N272 with CB250 - thoughts please

Hi

I am thinking of upgrading from a Supernait 2 to an N272 but would need to sell the SN2 to cover some of the purchase. My long term aim is to partner it with a 250 DR but until more funds are available I wondered how it would sound with my CB 250 - it's a lovely original one and has had a recent service by Class A (it normally partners a 62/Hicap set up). All thoughts appreciated

I'm sure the old 250 would work well with a 272 - I seem to recall that someone here reported that it worked well for them. Alternatively, keeping the Supernait and adding an NDX would be my choice.

Bob, it should be just great.  I have used the CB amps (including a CB NAP250) with my current kit and they work wonderfully well.

Thanks very much Nigel, Chris and Richard for your comments and seems that the CB 250 should be ok with the n272 - eventually it will go back to the CB Hicap and nac62 to be partnered with a turntable on vinyl duties.

What a great forum this is for helpful advice.

I have done it the other way round - 32.5, hicap dr and 250-2 which also sounded great!!

cos to be blunt, most of this "system synology" stuff is pure hokem when it comes to electronics. Good stuff is good. Poor is poor. Mixing good with poor creates mediocre. The N272 is fine. The CB250 is fine. 

I;m wondering what you think would happen? make pancakes or something? :-)

It seemed a perfectly reasonable question to me, and the OP was happy with the answers received. System synergy (rather than Synology) can be an issue - for example lots of people say that a 202/hicap/250.2 is not a synergistic combination, for example, though all parts are good in their own right.

John - I hoped the combination would be ok but then, as Nigel mentions, I did wonder about system synergy and whether the older CB 250 would sound ok with a modern pre-amp/streamer - after all in this hobby of ours many people find different cables and electronics can have a marked difference to the sound we hear, although I didn't expect any pancakes!. Anyway all seems well and no need for further discussion
