Two and a half minutes to midnight...

News today the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists have moved the Doomsday Clock 30 seconds forward as a response in part of Trump's election and his climate denial rhetoric.
So we're now 2 minutes and 30 seconds away from the apocalypse - the closest since the first American test of a hydrogen bomb in 1974.
This whole Trump thing is going just great isn't it? Most of the State Department management quit today, so there' no-one left to sort it out, either. A long-cold nuclear winter might just be the tonic this over-crowded and overheated planet needs.......
My parents lived through this. It was difficult for me to comprehend how terrifying it must have been for many people all over the world. I'm starting to get it now.
I remember as a child worrying over atomic wars and listening to radio Moscow and the voice of America and fearing the worse. I really thought we had moved away from some of that but we seem to be sliding relentlessly back to a time when the world and its people are super heated and behaving irrationally. It does make you wonder if it is something built into the human psyche brought out under certain stimulus, such as over crowding etc

CNN of 'fake news' fame are reporting the new administration had asked them to resign. The positions are in the gift of the president and he had chosen not to retain them.

It would be great if we would feel we don't have to write anymore about this grab them by the pony man, and can return to music....

I wonder if Trump fixates about his precious bodily fluids...

My understanding is that they put in their resignations as a matter of course with a new administration. Trump chose to accept those resignations. He could have refused them. It's not known (to me) whether they would have quit anyway. The truth is likely in the middle. What is more certain is that Trump will appoint in their place inexperienced, conflicted lackeys who will lie and cheat for him and who will actively participate in the plunder and destruction of the country's and world's assets on his behalf.

Do you think nobody reads the news? Anyway, the doomsday clock is a meaningless piece of groupthink analogous to using the price of a Big Mac to assess the state of an economy.
Yawn ...

That would be funny if Trump wasn't acting in the way he's going. I thought responsibility would moderate his proposed actions. Now Ii'm not so sure. We have a nuclear bunker not far away . Think I'll check it out.
