iRadio turns itself on

Posted by: Andrew on 28 January 2017

Dear All,

came home the other evening to an empty house with RSwissJazz FM playing merrily on my NDX.  I know for sure that I had turned off the radio after a brief listening session the day before.  This is not the first time this has occurred. I always use the remote to stop the stream from the NDX, whether uPnP or iRadio and I (usually) turn the volume down to zero. I would say that I have observed this behaviour at least a half dozen times or so over the last year.

 Anyone else had this problem?

I've not seen this problem.   What do you mean by 'stop' the NDX (iRadio or UPnP) - what do you leave the 'Input' set to?  When you change the NDX 'Input' on the remote, what is the iOS or Android control left on?     When you say it was 'playing'  do you mean it was playing & the 282 volume had changed so you can hear it & you know for sure the 282 volume was turned down to zero - are you 100% sure ??    Do you have the NDX & 282 auto-system linked for volume control?

When I turn my system off,  I usually use the iPad (not remote or front panel buttons) to change the NDX input to 'FM Radio'  this is NDX command link via System Automation to my NAT-05 tuner.  As you don't have an FM tuner you can 'park' the NDX in USB.

I don't use the Naim app. I use the remote control that comes with the NDX.  I stop the stream with the stop button. And it should stay in that state unless instructed otherwise. As I say, I have observed this behaviour repeatedly with iRadio.

Are you using the latest Naim firmware?

This used to happen with my ND5 XS, but was fixed in the latest firmware update.

Stop does not disconnect the www stream.     I note Juanito asks what firmware are you using 'cause he's seen the same problem with previous f/w.   Good advice to keep up to date whatever.   You are missing a lot without iPad,  so-o much easier

I must agree with Mike-B using a app to control the NDX is so much better more so if you activate the system automation to control the pre amp functions.

I think Juanito could be right, there was a spate of this if I remember, some time ago, and I don't think I was the only one to report it. So if you're on old firmware, try the update, which might bring other benefits too.

I reported it. I mistakenly thought I had the latest firmware. An update cured the problem.
