Systemdek IIX 900

Posted by: ndx202- on 31 January 2017

Just had to comment on an old Systemdek I have aquired..Rega RB200 with Origin live structural upgrades..It really amazes me how 3 dimensional this deck sounds..I bought a rega carbon cart for it and am amazed at how it sounds..Other kit Naim  Nac 112x nap150x and flatcap 2x..

Just wondered what turntable people prefer sound wise..This deck really does an amazing job..especially in the bass frequencies ' they are layered very nicely..

Just thought I would put it out there..

The Systemdek IIX 900 is a really nice sounding deck and can be a real bargain if you get a good'un and can avoid too many tweaks/upgrades. It does need to be well isolated (having a suspended chassis) and benefits from being mounted on a wall shelf especially if you have a suspended wooden floor.

Am running my own (bought new) with an audiomods RB300 based arm and audio technica AT33EV cart and feel it gives me all I need from an analog source,

Glad to hear you're enjoying your new setup.

The Systemdek IIX was an excellent deck - I've had loads of them and they're pretty much my first choice when friends are looking to get back into vinyl without going overboard on the expense. The later versions of the IIX 900 are very similar to the current Audio Note TT (not too surprising as AN took over the design) and work well with the Rega arms.  Enjoy it.  Oh, and I'm a big fan of the AT3600L and Rega Carbon - great fun carts for pocket money.

What phono stage are you using?

The poor man's Sondek. It was really good with and quite common with  Basik/K5 configuration as well. I had this one above briefly but in the end the Sondek was a better deck.

Still looks great. My first proper Hi-Fi demo (by the lovely Melody at Audio Excellence's original little shop in Cardiff), was fronted with the 'biscuit tin' Systemdek II (complete with Linn LVV and Basik cartridge)

I had a IIX with Linn Basik Plus and Nagaoka MP11 Boron, which was an upgrade from a Dual CS505-1. It served me well for 25+ years. Upgraded with an Origin Live motor and eventually an Audiomods arm. Great sound.  Only replaced recently by a Michelle Orbe SE, which was bought for me on a big Birthday. Still can't bring myself to sell the Systemdek though.

just wondering if springs are still available for the Systemdek iix900 ( square top plate )..They could do with being replaced as they are pretty much at their limit only just working..Guess 20 plus years has an expiry date..

Any help finding a source would be good..

Audio Note might be a good place to start.

There is a US seller on the famous auction site selling IIX springs for USD50 plus postage for a set of 3. You might need to check that these would be suitable for the IIX 900.
