Unitiserve not showing up on network

Posted by: PaulC on 04 February 2017

Hi all,

Having problems with my UServe (2TB, HDD version). It appeared to drop of the list of servers, and despite soft and hard resets, changing the network, port it was connected to (even connecting it directly to the router - (BT Hub 5) and restarting the router, it refuses to show itself on the network.

Any thoughts?

Paul

How are you trying to view the Unitiserve? Is it visible via the N-Serve app?

Have tried NServe, Naim App and via the router's home page - not showing on any of them.

Is it connected to the same network as your iPad? (Sounds like a silly question,  but I've seen worse...)

Can you download an app called Net Analyzer and scan the network?

Check if your US shows up and what letters show up next to it? U, P and B?

I do ave net Analyzer - it does not show up on it but from the history when it previously showed it has the letters U, 6 and P. Does this help?

It does help - now we know that when it was connected to the network, it communicated well.

Just one final test - can you try a different LAN cable? I see you've already tested alternative sockets.

If that doesn't help, I think your US will have to go back to the mothership for some TLC.

Have already tried an alternative network cable that I know is good- no joy. Sadly I think it will have to go to Naim hospital. Thanks for your help Adam.

on reflection this may have been building up as I've had to reboot it a few times but otherwise it has "served" me well over the last 3 years. Fortunately I have my CDS3 so I won't be without music.

If your router can't see the US on a properly set up LAN which used to work, it does sound ominously like a fault with the US. Possibly worth a factory reset of yout router just in case a setting is preventing it from seeing the US. Also, maybe connect it to a different network and see if it's visible on that. Other than that, could be time for it to go for a
