Well worth going to see. Puts on a good gig, saw him in Denver long time ago whilst visiting friends.

I wish he'd record more. It's been a while. His "Live in Amsterdam" is a good place to start. The vinyl comes with a DVD of a different concert, IIRC. Not sure whether the CD does.

His father is Larry McMurtry, who wrote "Lonesome Dove", "The Last Picture Show" and other good stuff. James got the writing gene--great lyrics.

I saw him at The Birchmere outside DC a  couple of years ago. Ray Wylie Hubbard opened for him, and he was at least as good as McMurtry.

I've been able to catch him a couple of times as well.  Very good shows.

I saw him and the band at Norwich Arts Centre on 7th February. Fabulous. A wonderful lyricist. I got to shake his hand and say 'Thanks' at the end of the gig.

John.
