Connecting Nap 155xs to Nac 152xs

Posted by: BDFan on 09 February 2017

Hi,

First question from newbie here, unfortunately because of funds I am buying on spec and secondhand. I have just purchased a Nap 155xs power and a Nac 152xs pre amp. Which cable do I need to connect the two, the power amp came without the necessary cable. This may seem a daft question but if you don't know etc. Do both units have to be plugged in to the mains or will the power amp supply the pre amp? I  have just started reading previous posts and a long way to go yet! Any advice very welcome - thank you.

The NAP 155 XS amplifier should have come with a DIN 4-pin/4-pin "SNAIC4" cable that carries both the audio signal from the NAC 152 XS preamplifier to the NAP 155 XS amplifier and the 24v power supply from the NAP 155 XS amplifier to the NAC 152 XS preamplifier. :)

In this configuration without any external power supply unit such as the FlatCap XS or the Hi-Cap, the NAP 155 XS amplifier supplies power to the NAC 152 XS preamplifier. Only the NAP 155 XS amplifier can and must be connected to the mains. You might want to refer to the Owner and/or the Reference Manual of both units and/or to the Connection Guide. They are all available on the Naim Audio website.<:)

As Chag says, you need a 4 pin DIN 'SNAIC' cable to connect the two boxes. Only the power amp connects to the mains. Naim supply this cable with the amp, so by rights, it should really have been passed on to you by the seller, otherwise you'll have to buy one.
