Which Glue for Epos ES 11 Bassdriver cone?

Posted by: Jazzcult on 13 February 2017

Good morning,

I bought a pair of Epos ES11. Unfortunately i recognized that both  cones are detached from the phase plug. The sound ist till great but with higher volume + bass  they start to "flatter". I want to fix it with a glue bit i don´t want to send them to Nirvana with the wrong glue. As i know the cones are made from a polyurethane/polypropylene.

Does somebody have experience fixing  the cones to the phase plug?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help

Regards, Rob

As far as I know the mid/bass drivers are not meant to be fixed to the phase plug, which is fixed in place. Certainly they are not on my pair. I don't recommend gluing anything without expert advice.

Hi Bunter, thanks for your quick reply.  What else can it be then? Thought this causes the "flattering". The outside-ring seems to be glued well ..

Rob,

I'd speak to Mike Creek at Epos. Google 'creek audio contact' etc.

Hi Chris,

I did.... at 1st: the cone is not attached to the phase plug.. (oh meeee....) so, everything is OK! Problem: one driver has "gone"   but i bought another pair in really good conditions (190€) and also an nait xs-2 (series between XS and XS2..from end of 2012..  could it be?) anyway... hooked with the XS they are showing me the full potential.. wow... !! My loved good old NAD 3240PE is in good hands now and the Rotel RA 970 BX ( i never liked it..to harsh to my ears..) is on the (e) bay now...!

Listening since thursday (arrival day of my used XS) all CDs and spotify playlists (iPad) and what should i say?? Sounds so great..

I like the "dry" bass so much..details and stage and everything sounds "right" .. as I am new to Naim, please forgive me .. : )))

The Epos are running with the QED Original, 3 m length, 2,5 mm. Monday i will get a pair of naca 5, 3,5 m length.

Next steps planned: upgrade to CD 5 xS, Sonus Faber Venere 2, PSU.

Is this a good choice?

by the way.... the seller told me, that i can choose between cinch and DIN as default setting..(for improved sound..i´m using cinch with my old NAD CD 512) but i don´t know how.... : ((

Support is highly welcome : )
