Am I the only one who likes naca5 over TQ black?
Posted by: rainsoothe on 14 February 2017
As per title. I just got a pair of B&W PM1 to replace spendor s3e in my nac-n 172xs + nap 200 system. Currently have Tellurium Q black and Naca 5 on home dem (against my DNM reson speaker cable) and I kind of prefer the Naim cable, although what TQ does better is pretty obvious. Just wondering if everyone who has had or heard both these cables prefers the TQ, as it would appear when reading around the web.
Oh, and hi and a happy new year to everyone! ![]()

Hopefully be picking up a demo set from dealer at Bristol Show, you can then come round for a listen
I'll be there!
TQ Black shout from me , demo-ing it about 3 years ago was the first time I realised that cables DO make a difference . It was pretty much an instant reach for the wallet .. I'll be be interested in Mr Wengers findings on the Ultra Blacks .

I hope the OP won't mind me providing some insight to your question.
The Ultra Blacks are in the same league as the SuperLumima, I also use the TQ black diamond interconnect aswell, which may be a contributing factor to me prefering the sound of the Ultra Blacks. The soundstage, clarity, is outstanding but add to that a certain weight and depth, warmth, detail, with masterful timing, it becomes an exceptional combination......no harshness on the treble, it's not clinical or robotic in anyway, the music just flows...... but of course it's all subjective, no doubt depending on what black boxes you are using and what your musical preferences are..ect ect
The reviews on the TQ Black diamonds, suggest a night and day improvement again, which is one reason I'm keen to have them on dem....
But if your thinking about trying the Ultra blacks, I'm more then confident you will not be wanting to send them back , so be prepared ....
TQ Black for me, best cable upgrade I've ever made and I prefer the interconnect to the Chord Anthem Reference I have. I'm too frightened to listen to the Ultra Blacks
TQB for me.
The ultra blacks are way ahead of the blacks in every way, as Wenger described. Once you've heard them there's no going back. If you like the blacks, you may fall in love with the Ultra blacks. In my system I found them to sound even more natural, better balanced, with more detail and a smoother almost more relaxing sound somehow over the blacks. They sound even more right.
Can't quote from mobile, but I don't mind, it's all useful. I just thought I was a white sheep in an entirely tellurium black flock. Turns out I am not ![]()

NACA5 for Valhalla.
Not a fan of TQ cables, having tried several models. Prefers the NACA5.
TQ speaker cables have the hifi attributes but NACA5 produces the essence. Just my opinion.
