Fraim ordered for end of March - best of 3???

Posted by: antony d on 22 February 2017

Well i have gone for the FRAIM, it was close between the Fraim or updgrade to new 250DR or XPS DR for NDX - dealer going to install at the end of March

Son is going to have my Quadshire stands, so he can finally get his first deck - he is at Uni at the moment so not home much

Hope it brings a lot to the system - NDX, 282, HCDR, 200 & LP12,  lot of comments say "like having another black box" will post photos and comments

another part of the jouney, piggy bank empty but 250DR is next!

Be keen to hear your experience. I have Fraim on my shopping list but it is a big expense.

Congratulations on your purchase...

just wondering if you were able to demo the rack or the 250dr or the xpsdr?

And what was it that made you go for the rack?

Great thing about the Fraim (amongst many things ) is that you can add another level if your feeling flush.

had extensive demo of XPSDR/250DR/555PS? with NDX/282/HCDR in any number of combos i wanted - my dealer was a star! (very well known in Leciester and beyond!)

it was a hard choice they have all FRAIM for LP12's but use different for ease of moving around

trust them to be honest,  the 250 DR will be next on wish list

really looking forward to it being set up

You must report back and make some comparisons with your previous rack.

Regarding the 250dr, you won't be disappointed when the time comes..

Congrats on your purchase Antony - as you might know i just purchased a Fraim rack - allthough upgrading from something "slightly" worse that your QUADRASPIRE rack (a £50 ikea thing) i was one of the "like a black box upgrade" guys. look forward to your impressions (and pictures). and systemwise we are fairly close. next up for me is also the 250DR (or 300DR if offer pops up) when funds permit.

A bit off topic but has anyone ever bought a Friamlite (and Fraim chips) then go get the tempered glass manufactured separately?

Fraim is due to be delivered in a couple of weeks - any thoughts on order - at present I was thinking LP12/NDX/282/ HCDR stageline/200/ NAPSC NAS

Or should the 282 go above the NDX???

LP12, 282, Stageline (on left), Hicap (on right), 200. Napsc on floor behind rack. Nas in another room.

+1  Honest. I totally agree.

p.s. oops forgot about the NDX. Do you have sufficient levels?

Posted on: 27 March 2017 by hungryhalibut

Oops, sorry - NDX beneath Stageline and above Hicap.

Yes on levels, thanks for advice

I'd go with your dealer's advice on order when he comes to install!

So would I. My actual Fraim configuration is  quite different from what I had expected before the build started

I'm interested in your findings as well.  Fraim will be my next upgrade, picked up two Fraimlite levels (for my non Naim components) from a dealer that were in like new condition & then I need 3 more levels of Fraim (which is looking like I'll need to go new).  Of all my upgrades done so far, this one is by far the hardest for me to accept the cost vs "its just an audio rack".  I'm currently just using what they call a "DIY flexi rack" (3/4" MDF shelves with  threaded rods supports), so I'm hoping for a jump in performance.  I've already made the jump from the 200 to the 250DR & it was a very worthwhile upgrade.

so Fraim installed on Thursday of last week, Cherry with black,  it looks good in the music room so to first impresstions on system - sound stage is bigger, bass is a lot tighter, vocals more defined, so has it added to the music - YES in every way

dealer said its like adding a black box to your system - was he correct YES the FRAIM is not cheap - but IMO don't think about it as a music support stand it add's to the whole sound experience, LP12 has also benifited

Thanks to my dealer over in Leicester - GREAT service (no change there)

Very nice. Looking forward to getting my Fraim later in the year.

That looks excellent Antony - I am very confident that you will continue to love it

And I love the photo of Beefy above the rig. One of the all time classic sporting images....

The other pictures looks like Sève winning the open in 1984.

i think the best aspect of Fraim is that cable management is easier with it and naim kit is presented well.

did I notice a big sonic improvement no not really. My advice is buy fraim second hand especially if you see it at a good price. Fraim base and four levels for £1000 in my case.

Very nice. I really like the Cherry-Black look.

The rack is like mains imo. The foundations the system is build on. Get either one wrong an it's very difficult, if not impossible, to compensate with more (expensive) boxes. If been very happy with the Fraim from day 1.
