Lead sheets for RFI isolation and/or mechanical absorption

Posted by: Chag... on 22 February 2017

Have we posted on the possible use of lead sheets, say 1 or 2mm, for electromagnetic (RFI) isolation/shield as well as mechanical absorbtion under pre and sources and/or on top of PSUs? Has anybody tried this with positive results? I could not find anything with the Advance Search.  :0

I think the principle of low mass, high rigidity supports might be somewhat compromised by adding sheets of lead!??

Chat, let us know, you will need to probably ground the lead sheets so they don't act as passive radiators.. however the conductivity of lead is relatively low. You probably need to pay more attention between connecting cables hanging out the back of the units

Well noted Simon. I indeed always check that all cables are still crossing at 2cm or more from each other except for the 252 Burndy and Snaic that must run as close to each other as possible. Deviating from these two rules always affects SQ for the worse.  :malin1:
