Retail Price of NAC 282

Posted by: ryder. on 25 February 2017

I was looking at Naim's price list (April 2015 from Tom Tom Audio and January 2017 from Signals) and noticed that the price of the NAC 282 has dropped while all other gear register an increase in pricing.

Tom Tom Audio's April 2015 price list shows a retail price of £4,395 for the NAC 282. The Napsc is mentioned to be included with the NAC 282.

Signals' January 2017 price list shows a retail price of £4,129 for the NAC 282. The Napsc is not mentioned.

Would appreciate if someone can advise if the retail price of the NAC 282 has dropped £266, assuming the Napsc is included in both price lists.

All other gear show an increase in price:-

Preamplifier  2015 / 2017

NAC 202 £2,050 / £2,100

NAC 252 £6,130 / £6,250

NAC 552 £2,155 / £2,160

NAC-N 272 £3,300 / £3,469

NAC 282 £4,395 / £4,129

Why don't you just ring a dealer and ask them this question?

It £4488 for the 282 inc napsc on the price list I've seen

It looks like you have answered your own question.

Top amp the 282 and for me the point in the Naim Classic range where the music gets real.

Still a lot of money but it could easily last you a life time. I got mine second hand.

Perhaps the NAC 282 in the Signals 2017 price list does not include the NAPSC? The NAC 282 is £4,129 (1st January 2017).

Yes I agree. The NAC 282 is a keeper.

I part x'd my Nac 202 ( 2009) and around 850 for Nac 282 (2004) without Napsc, when funds permit I'll send it up to Class A for a service so if you shop around for 1100 pounds and a Nac 202  you can get a newly serviced Nac 282 which is for me at least an absolute bargain and my Naim Nac end game, a 252 doesn't interest me and a 552 may aswell cost as much as a statement.  For the hobbyist without an endless supply of cash who is unwilling to borrow money you cannot get a better pre amp than the 282,  at Naim anyway.

I think that the 2017 Naim price list shows the price of the NAC282 without the NAPSC.

If you search in online shops like Sevenoaks or Audio-T you'll see that they currently list the NAC282 at £4488 which is cost of NAC282 + NAPSC from the 2017 price list.

Hi,

I have just ordered a 282 and was confirmed price on order.

282 including napsc - £4488

282 without napsc - £4129

I ordered without napsc as I already have one dated 2015.

I would severely undermine the second hand market for the NAC552

I do agree with the sentiment here, not particularly motivated to upgrade from 282/HCDR/250DR.... It sounds amazing, does it need to get any better.... not to my ears and what I need.

(But the 252/300 and 552/500 are better )

The 282 is a superb pre-amp. It can be upgraded with a SupercapDR, when I found it performed very well with a 300DR. That's a combination that I think is easily an 'end-point' in VFM terms.
