Transfiguration Proteus

Anyone using or heard the Transfiguration Proteus phono cartridge?  I listened to the Orpheus L a few years back and thought it was the best cartridge i'd ever heard... lush, big, textural sound from what I recall.

I've had one for just over a year, the only other cartridges I've used for the last 25 years are 17D2 and 3s. The proteus is just as fast but more with body dynamics and subtlety. Not much surprise there given the price difference except possibly the speed.

I can add that, after considerable experimentation, I found the 100 Ohm loading plug is optimum for a superline. and no capacitance plug.

Thanks for your insight Yeti.  Can you give me some context on your turntable setup?

Hi Chris,

I have one as well. It replaced a Temper V which was my favorite cartridge for many years. I was able to trade up after mishandling the Tempers cantilever . The Proteus is very much a Transfiguration and cut from the same sonic cloth. I would say it offers a more nuanced approach to everything. As I have no other modern cartridge around, my second one is a vintage Urushi, I can't say how it compares to something like your Kleos.
