TQ Black Diamond Speaker Cables on Home Dem?
Posted by: wenger2015 on 03 March 2017
The TQ Black Diamond Speaker cables have arrived for a home demo.
I have invited Finkfan over, so as to have a 2nd opinion.
We played a familiar cd from the group Fink, we both often use this as the reference cd for any potential upgrades.
After the first track, I immediately realised these cables are going to be good...
After the second and third tracks I almost found myself speechless .....bearing in mind I'm used to listening to TQ ultra blacks, which in my opinion our very very good, I've also had Super Lumina on dem a few weeks ago....which again our very very good....
All I can say is WOW, the extra detail, the timing, the soundstage , just everything is absolutely exquisite ...magic....talk about the musicians being in the room....
As each track played, the cables just seemed to get better and better and better....one particular review described these cables as being a masterpiece of cable design.... It summerises it perfectly....
What did my good friend Finkfan think? With his much younger ears?
Well exactly the same as me, I don't think I've seen a bigger grin on his face....
We both sat and listened to 10 tracks, both of us thinking the same thing...Are they worth £630 per metre? , absolutely .....
I will be having a really enjoyable weekend....
And Yes, I will be ordering a set...

Yes, very happy thanks, still on cloud 9....![]()
UPDATE Day 4
I'm not sure if I should post anymore updates, I don't want to sound like a broken record?
But I thought I would change music genre and move over to some Jazz...Manu Katche album 'Neighbourhood'.... Verdict... magnificent
The problem is, if this is a problem, I choose 2/3 albums to play but only end up listening to the same album because it's like listening to it for the first time, and yet it's an album one has heard time and time again over the years...
I have to stop myself saying 'wow ' every few minutes... bearing in mind I am the only one in the listening room....(it's not really a problem I suppose, but I am in serious danger of starting to talk to myself)
Ps ....yesterday I played Pink Floyd 'The Wall ' the end of track 3 the famous Hellicoptor piece (on high volume) ...my wife comes into the listening room, sits down and says ' I seriously thought a Hellicoptor was coming in to land outside'....
Enough said....![]()
Re: The Wall. You know that bit where he smashes all the TVs, well I was playing it last night and my wife came running in and seriously thought I'd put my foot through the telly! Even more amazing we have a flat screen!
Using NACA5 by the way- 'nuff said![]()

Wasn't that a helicopter coming to take you away to a certain place.....
?
On a serious note - really happy for you that the TQ is such a wonderful upgrade in your system. It's really encouraging to read such reviews.
Apparently the Helicopter had a guy with a megaphone bringing me a message..... Put simply the message was....its time for me to shut up.....![]()
Just a quick update...
The TQ Black Diamonds have been hooked up for 9 Days now..
I won't bore anyone with anymore summary of how good they are, other then to say They really are exceptional cables...
If anyone is thinking about an upgrade, I would certainly recommend giving them an audition......
We spend a lot of money on black boxes and possibly fail to understand the value of high quality cables.......
Glad to hear they're still sounding so good! I'm guessing an order will be going in next week?

Yes......Absolutely .....time to start negotiations with the dealer....![]()

I don't think you will regret that decision for one minute, as you say the Black Diamond's are exceptional speaker cables. Okay not cheap but the improvement they brough about in my system make them worth the money.
On a side note, I was encouraged to try some AR-Sound interconnects (din>xlr) by a fellow forum member. I now have their Lunar Equatorial interconnects and have been very impressed with their performance. They do take an age to fully run in as do the Tellurium cables but the journey was well worth the end results, simply put they just sound right and have good synergy with the Tellurium BDs.
Enjoy your new cables when you get them and remember, give them time to burn in.
Good listening.

Thanks ATB,
I am using the TQ Black Diamond interconnect, which similar to the speaker cable is exceptionally good.
But as you have discovered their are other high end interconnects that can work extremely well.
Ok so you are very impressed with with these very expensive cables. Think how good they would sound with improved sources, power supply, etc? I am old fashioned and will always stick with 'source first'. And, here we're talking about black box upgrades that would cost significantly less than the proposed cables. But if you're determined to change cables, what about the various offerings from Chord? I don't think they've been mentioned in this thread so far? Their demo at Bristol was very impressive. They must be worth consideration.

I think source first is useful advice up to a certain level, that said, things have moved on considerably since the 70's or 80's or even 90's...ect ect
But even with Source first, everything still is dependent on ones quality of cables.
Interestingly I was talking to one of the more experienced dealers at the Bristol show, and he suggested you only need to lengths of Copper wire, in my mind he lost all his credibility with that one ridiculous statement....
So IMHO, you really need the best cables you can afford, they are just as important as any black box.
I did go to the Chord demo at the show, although very impressive, really no match on the Black Diamonds..
I have no doubt technology has moved on in recent decades, but that applies to black boxes and cables. The principle of source first remains unchanged - rubbish in, rubbish out!
That's only if the rest of the system lets the rubbish come out ![]()

As with everything hi-fi, it's all about opinions....

I'm just considering if I should try the Silver Diamonds first? Can't decide....
well, let's say it would be the only way to confirm 100% that you're making the right choice re the Black Diamonds :-)

Nah.... probably not worth it, just rubbish an' all that...![]()
Yeah, why not....
Diamonds area forever, so you need to decide if they'll be black or silver.
Thanks to an unexpected cash boost on Tuesday ( wedding anniversary and Birthday gift from wife, daughter & Son in law !!! ) I could possibly 'push the boat out a tad further' ......oh the dilemma... ![]()

If there is too much cash available, I'm happy to send you my Naim shopping list
I promise to be modest - 552 and 300DR will suffice

Nah.....i would consider it but .....Probably not worth it...rubbish and all that...![]()
You'd be better getting a new CD player, preamp or stand before spending even more on cables. The prioritisation seems to be rather unbalanced.
