TQ Black Diamond Speaker Cables on Home Dem?

Posted by: wenger2015 on 03 March 2017

The TQ Black Diamond Speaker cables have arrived for a home demo.

I have invited Finkfan over, so as to have a 2nd opinion.

We played a familiar cd from the group Fink, we both often use this as the reference cd for any potential upgrades.

After the first track, I immediately realised these cables are going to be good...

After the second and third tracks I almost found myself speechless .....bearing in mind I'm used to listening to TQ ultra blacks, which in my opinion our very very good, I've also had Super Lumina on dem a few weeks ago....which again our very very good....

All I can say is WOW, the extra detail, the timing, the soundstage , just everything is absolutely exquisite ...magic....talk about the musicians being in the room....

As each track played, the cables just seemed to get better and better and better....one particular review described these cables as being a masterpiece of cable design....  It summerises it perfectly....

What did my good friend Finkfan think? With his much younger ears?

Well exactly the same as me, I don't think I've seen a bigger grin on his face....

We both sat and listened to 10 tracks,  both of us thinking the same thing...Are they worth £630 per metre? , absolutely .....

I will be having a really enjoyable weekend....

And Yes, I will be ordering a set...

..........what a great hobby we have.... happy days as they say..

And I was practising the eight note triplet subdivision this evening. Starting with complex riff in 5/4, moving to 4/4 and then the triplets ... happy days ...

All I can say is, if you can do that, then ' respect'  my friend....

Finally managed, especially in the required BPM  (BPM = Beats Per Minute).

Have fun with the TQ's tomorrow!

Yes, looking forward to it.......

Ps any music in the pipeline?

Yes - hoping to enter the recording studio in May with 5 or 6 new tracks. Should be fun

Yes i saw that - shame. He's a very clever chap and one of the reasons why i tried (and used) the original TQ black cable. I'll be keep an eye on what else he develops

According to the website, apart from audio equipment, they produce mains cables, interconnects, and speaker cables....

Yes. Good to see him back

The dealer that first introduced me to naim,  knows him well, by all accounts the man is a bit of a 'genius'.

Just been through their website - intersting....

Unfortunately the website doesn't provide any prices for its products,  so have just dropped them an email.

The website looks like it's been put together by a twelve year old as part of a school project with the objective of deploying 'revolutionary' as many times ad possible. It's good to see the Inca Tech Claymore revisited, though would anyone really buy something with 'retro' on the front. Will they last more than a year?

Agreed, but more often than not it is an indicator of a well structured company. I have had my experiences with genius designers who are unable to either stay with a company or keep any product in production for more than a year. Comparing that with a certain outfit from Salisbury who not only managed to stay in business for more than a couple of years and services nearly all of its previous products certainly had an influence when I bought my last two black boxes.

I suppose the question is, would you have brought a black box (grey box) from Salisbury after they had been in business for only 6 months?

Who knows?

Well - we keep our fingers crossed for the new venture.

I think they should start making some DIN-DIN interconnects too/

Hi Wenger,

you might be surprised be the number of products I bought from new(ish) manufacturers. I had the original Audio Physic Virgo and bought my Bauer dps when it was pretty much unknown and I am still open to new products. The only thing I no longer want for me, is spending money for something that has a good chance to be orphaned because the designer has done that frequently in the past. I am fully aware that I might rob myself of some very nice things, but my approach feels still right for me.

Isn't it great, that we all can pick something we like?

Hi Mulberry,

I think when it comes to black boxes, then yes, caution is paramount.

But less so with speaker cables, interconnects ect

It will be interesting to see how long it takes before someone responds to my email forwarded to the new company?

So, I can't justify the Black Diamonds, but can anyone indicate how the "vanilla" Blacks perform by comparison?

Yes - I did. And chose SL speaker cables.

Thanks Adam

It's good to know that the TQ Diamond range (very appreciated by a lot from here) it's possible not to be a better match with a SL interconnect than one between SL speaker cables / SL interconnect..

I think the conclusion is not that clear. Both TQ and Naim speaker cables and interconnects are superb and appear to be very similar, at least when I tried them
In my room, with my equipment and to my taste a combination of SL DIN-DIN, SL DIN-XLR and SL speaker cable was the best choice.

I did try the SL speaker cables with the TQ Black Diamond interconnect , it didn't work for me.

I do think it's best for system synergy to stick to one manufacturer for your cables.

That said, if it works for you, then that's all that matters.

What do you mean ' vanilla Black's?

The ordinary Black , not the Diamond or Ultra versions.
