Naim app locks on albums with Various artists in Tidal

When I, in Tidal, am trying to play an album with Various artists, the Naim app locks and must be restarted. It works OK in the Tidal app.

"Is there anybody out there" who has the same problem? Perhaps it is some kind of subfile problem (for those familiar with IBM AS/400).

I have exactly the same problem. Open up a various artist compilation and click on any track and the Tidal app freezes. I have to close / reopen app to get it working, very frustrating!

Not sure if it's a 'Tidal' or Naim App problem. Tried various fixed and static ip addresses, no difference, app still freezes. Suggestions anybody??

My Naim app for Android locks up all the time.

It works for a grew moments until I make a few selections and then it goes kaput!

Hi,

This isn't an issue that we have seen here - can you tell me which platform this is on (Android or iOS) and which version of the App you are using? If you use the "App feedback" option then we'll be send those details directly and also can you tell me which album(s) you are trying to play that cause the issue as I can't recreate it here.

Can I also get you to delete the app from your device completely and reinstall it and confirm that you still get the issue...

I am using IOS on an I pad and I phone. (App Version 5.5 under Beta programme) 

I have had the problem on previous versions of the app, I deleted  and reinstalled several times - Same problem. It occurs on ANY  'Various Artists' albums ie: compilations.

If I open up the album and attempt to listen to any song, the app freezes. I have to close down the app / restart. If you click 'Play All Songs' it is OK, if you click on individual songs it freezes.

This occurs on Any Various Artist Album.

If i use the Tidal app on I Pad there is no problem.

What  quality setting are you using. Just now I am playing a various artist album and until now the first 2 minutes it plays fine on mu-so Tidal Premium.

And a bit later I find that all tracks play fine however after a few minute of each track Mu-so Qb skips to the next track, so no freeze of the app, but not expected behaviour.

The album played on Tidal premium is.

I use ipad/Iphone, app-version 5.4. I just tried the musical Chess (original recording) and the app freezes and after a while it leaves Tidal and goes back to the main menu.

A clue to the problem can perhaps be, that there are so many "other albums" with Various artists. The app freezes when trying to "write" all those albums.

Tidal Premium on ND5-XS, app freezes on various artist compilation albums.

Tidal Premium on Sonos 1- No problem. Tidal app on I pad / I phone - No problem.

Tidal on Windows 10 computer- No problem. 

It would appear to be  a Naim issue?.

Hi Idris,

OK - so this is with Beta app? Do you get the same on current release?

I know that you say it happens on any compilation album but can you specify to me one album that you see it on so I can confirm from my end using exactly the same album...?

Is this specifically with TIDAL as per the original post or is this generally?

...unfortunately not one that so far we have been able to reproduce on either the 5.4 production code or 5.5 beta code that we are running here using any of the compilations albums that we have tried or the album specified by the original poster - obviously if you can list some that you have tried specifically and get the issue on then we can try to reproduce what you're seeing at your end but it doesn't sound like it's an issue that is being seen across the board.

I'm wondering whether it could be related to the issues with TIDAL that were being seen last week whereby albums were appearing out of track order or maybe it's something related to a specific TIDAL server but unless we can recreate the issue it becomes very difficult to identify.

If you have a cameraphone then can you take me a video of using the app on your iPad to browse and select so that we can see exactly what you are getting happening?

Hi Claus,

That's a different issue - That album isn't available as lossless and is AAC 44.1kHz / 96kbits/sec and as such there is an issue with playing those files from TIDAL whereby they will play half-way through and then move to the next track. It's been logged with the software guys already.

That's really odd as the La La Land album is one that I checked with earlier today and it works fine here ... I've logged it with the software guys to look at.
