Insanely idiotic record player

How to take a simple concept and make it stupid, overly complex and unspeakably ugly. Throw in a bunch of pointless "features" for good measure.
Is there an app that can add snaps and pops to my Spotify stream? Maybe turn off the music after an album side is over and force me to get up to flip my phone over? That'd be progress.
I thought it was a joke... until I saw they have already raised $800K. Agree, pointless.
Check out U-Turn Audio. They make cheap turntables in Boston which have been favorably reviewed.
Winky, I've moved this to the padded cell. Perhaps more appropriate, and it means that the link can stay...
Ordered mine.
Well, for a couple of hundred quid, you have to give it a go !
Strange selling point, that it maintains crackles and pops!
I note that it claims that it puts NO weight on the vinyl's tracks, so zero tracking force, presumably for zero wear! Assuming this is marketing hype rather than some magical application of technology to read the groove, and that the stylus does indeed apply some downward force, then unless they've incorporated some clever variable counterbalancing the tracking weight will change across the record. Before entrusting irreplaceable vinyl, maybe some info on actual tracking weight range might be useful...
There was another "excellent" design ad doing the rounds a couple of weeks ago, the arm etc were under the record so all you saw was a revolving record. Jon Honeyball supplied some suitable dismissive words.
I'm still wondering about the "hovering" platter design.

It looks so cute and un-believable. Talking about it is one thing. Having one on the table to show how it works and how wonderful the sound is (fingers crossed) takes the biscuit. Worth £200 just for the laughs
Yes it has novelty value for sure it's like a modern day product by Ronson.
vinyl has finally "jumped the shark".
tapes didn't kill it, cd's didn't kill it and neither did streaming but this abomination just might.
it's not even the thing itself (kind of cool) but how it does what it does; converting an analog signal and then sending it wirelessly through a bluetooth transmitter to a receiver that converts it again to make sound from a record and selling that as a "vinyl experience" is offensive.
i guess if you want to take your records out camping or to a picnic, maybe.
