What happens during a Naim service?

I have recently bought a 2nd hand SU (2013 model) from my local hifi shop.  The SU had been back to Naim because the original LED display had failed.  The guy in the shop told me that as well as fixing the display they had serviced the SU.  I pressed him to find out exactly what that means but he didn't seem to know or want to tell me.

The reason I ask is, the "black" Naim units require servicing every 12-15 years.  I am wondering if the SU's servicing clock has been reset.  Also does the SU requires breaking in again?  It comes down to what is covered in a service.

Would Naim do a full service on something that had a specific issue that required fixing such as the LED display?

I would have thought it would depend upon what was requested when the unit was returned. Usually Naim Audio service department issues a service report when the item is returned stating what has been changed.  Maybe you should ask the dealer if he has that.

Given that the unit is only 3-4 years old I would not expect that a full service had been performed since that would involve changing several capacitors (unless it had been specifically requested, of course).

Ok thanks, I thought that would be the case.

Or contact Naim with the serial number and they should be able to tell you its history.
