Will it be too late to have a nDAC?

3-4 years in NAIM and first post here

currently having cd5xs/nd5xs/ SN2, found a 2nd hand nDAC which cost less than £1,100. Very tempted to add one more box since the nDAC can benefit the cd5/ nd5 at the same time( both unit as transport)

however, my consideration is, nDAC was released in around year 2000. Will it be a 2nd generation coming soon? Will it be too late to have one now?

thanks for all input from you guys

You would have to hear Hugo for yourself to know if you'd prefer its sound -however it can't compete re number of inputs younneed. The Hugo TT has more inputs, and remote selectable , but I'm not sure even that has as many inputs as you need. (That I don't undersrptand the benefit of a better DAC on things like TV and PS is beside the point - even just ND5, CD and Bluray exceed Hugo's inputs.) BTW, what is the benefit of SBT if you have ND5? (i ask, not knowing what else SBT offers)

Correction. OP does not have the SBT, I do. OP have both Naim CD and network players. Almost every AV gear I have in the living room is plugged to the nDAC. I like to maximize my investments.

If you know a little Linux, the SB Touch is a very versatile and capable player. It can be tweaked for audio performance. Using the ipad, I can easily navigate through my music library. It plays lossy and lossless formats. And I can access via the ipad app on album info, lyrics, wiki the band/singer, images, etc. It's like a PC, without needing a PC directly connect. With plugins, I can use Airplay. And it's super cheap.

I doubt Naim will ever release an integrated streaming solution to better separate nDAC.

Well, actually ,they did, it's called NDS

Definitely get that dac ,it's extremely good partnered with good transports, such the ones you have ,which with classic ones the best to match with.

Not only you will improve your sources a lot, you have the possibility to make three upgrades in one shifting your hicap(DR?) on amp.

And a lot more afterwards

What's not to like?
