Naim app update
Posted by: Cheekymonkey71 on 14 March 2017
anybody else experiencing issues with logging into Tidal since today's update?
Aha. Maybe logical, but... if as you say, the app has no 'memory', how come the previous version behaved differently? The previous version always returned to the 'screen/display' as it was when I last used the app, even after closing it!!!
I think the latest versions have some sort of cache (memory) as it does reopen where you last left. I tend to shutdown with it on FM Radio icon (system auto link to NAT05). I'm struggling to remember how it used to be, but it would be good if it was possible to open with no app icons active.

Yes - I think shouting will really help here.
I've just described to you the functionality of the app as it is now.

One man's emphasis is another man's shout - or so it would seem!!
UHHHH? Egg-on-face, or just bizarre?? The updated app is now behaving like the immediate previous version, so all is well as far as I am concerned.
Please ignore my previous comments.
stopped using it after last update on Samsung . using bubble no problem

are you able to confirm whether there is a testing script you follow to check all the functionality of the app?
We are told to maintain confidentiality as to the beta program. What they ask us to test, and how, I view as not for public consumption.

Understood Bart.
Is it possible to introduce a facility to delete an individual track from a CD on the core ? I have a couple that took an hour or so and appeared to have ripped succesfully, but when played back the last track just skips and pops so rather than delete the album i would like to delete the faulty tracks.

Such functionality isn't planned - can you confirm that the disc does not rip correctly after cleaning and if so can we borrow the disc to examine as to why it doesn't rip correctly?

Its got a flaw in the plastic, very small but can be seen under a light, does the same on my PC ripper so not NAIM specific but does make some nasty noises if played. I thought the core may be able to detect that and show a failed rip but it completed after 1Hr30 .

In that case it would be really handy if we were able to get the disc itself to test / check ... can you contact me directly on phil.harris@naimaudio.com?

The core app has no explicit indication of failed rip, nor a log file you can interrogate.

You could always rip the CD on a computer, delete the faulty track, then add it to the downloads folder.
If you need to resort to that you may as well not bother with the Core in the first place, as you won't know which album has a faulty track until you've ripped it, and therefore everything would need to be ripped by the computer.

Yes thats a plan, but i have found a couple so far by playing and it would be much easier to delete there and then.

Hi OldNeil,
This issue is known to us and has been logged however there should be no need to restart your iPad - you should be able to force close the app and run it again without restarting your iPad.

Ok, latest version (2.0, Android) has an annoying bug in the Tidal integration. Simply put, it's impossible to use the search function. The keyboard pops op multiple times, and searches disappear while typing. Also, the enter (or search) button doesn't work, when hitting the search field goes blank again. I can understand the latter, as the search already starts when entering the first character.
Hope this is clear. Anyone else experiencing this?
And to be clear, this happens only in the Naim app.

Tidal search on Android works for me. If this is a bug, it's possible that Naim might be able to investigate and fix it, but they will want to know the hardware/firmware/OS version of your streamer and Android device.
Is there another app out there I can use to control my ND5-XS? I'm tired of the Naim one being so badly laid out, slow and glitchy. The fact that that it now forgets where it is at the end of an album and resets to the various available inputs rather drives me nuts. The Rovi function is a joke. I've been using the app in its various incarnations for five years or more and every time it's "upgraded" it becomes less useful and less proficient at what it does.

NDX with FM module, firmware is 4.4.00, App version is 2.0 on Android 7.0. Will get the 7.1 update very soon.
Interesting, similar issues now on my wife's Samsung with an older version of Android. And this started for her after a Tidal password change.
Noticed something strange, when selecting the search field in the Tidal part of the Naim app, the keyboard disappears for a fraction of a second, every 5 seconds. When 'refreshing,' sometimes the text stays, but isn't used in the search. But most of the times only the text after 'keyboard refresh' appears.
So the only way to do a search, is to immediately after keyboard refresh do the typing, and hope that you don't make an error. Really annoying, and this makes the Tidal part of the app completely useless.

Have you tried restarting the app? I would be surprised if this were a general problem that has been missed by both the developers and the beta testers. I don't use the Android app, but whenever I see odd behaviour in the IOS app, a restart often fixes it, albeit not necessarily permanently.
