Folder Artwork Reduction
Posted by: TJSTAR on 16 March 2017
Hi,
Currently the Naim App for me is unresponsive on my Galaxy S7. I have an NDX, wired Ethernet and QNAP NAS. What I mean by this is that it takes a while to render each page in "folder View".
I am now using Asset to order everything. Now although Asset doesn't up-stream the artwork to the parent folder in the same way Twonky does, I have noticed that it does take a while to render the artwork on each song. Once I press the song itself Asset and Naim app are fine.
Ok, so this is what I have tested and noticed:
The lower the resolution and size of the artwork, the better everything behaves and runs much quicker. I originally used high res for everything based on the power of Android and iPads etc, but alas for some reason Naim App still doesn't approve and much prefers low res, and small artwork.
Ok I have 2 options:
1) To resize everything which would take an age. (I have both folder jpegs and embedded artwork in my collection depending on the file).
2) To find some software that could re-size everything in 1 swoop without damaging the sound files.
Also to note, I have contacted Asset (dbPoweramp) to request that their next release 5.2 allows you to up-stream artwork to parent folders as I don't want to have to do this manually. I'm sure many of us could benefit from this.
Any suggestions of software tried and tested would be most welcome.
Regards,
Trevor...
