Sorry in advance if these issues are addressed elsewhere. I've just set up a Naim Nait 5si and ND5 XS streamer. I've experienced a couple of issues with the Naim app, and I'm hoping someone can help.
1) When I download the Naim app (iPhone, iPad), there is an option to "setup new product" but when I choose that option, the ND5 XS is not listed as an option, just the Muso, Muso Qb, and Uniti Core. Since the ND5 is not listed, I skipped this and selected "Find my rooms." When I did that, it did find the player.
My music is stored on a Synology DS216+II NAS.
2) I've been using the app for a few days now and it's been working fairly well. It hangs on occasion, but usually only for a few seconds or so. But today, the UPnP option just spins. When I click on one of the playlists I created, the songs are listed but there are yellow alerts next to each song - "Can't play track."
I'm wondering if anyone has had these issue, and if there's a recommended protocol for resetting the app/player. I deleted the app and downloaded it again on my phone, but it didn't help. I've resisted deleting it on the iPad, because I don't want to lose the (many) playlists that I created. Any suggestions?

Welcome to Naim Steve. Can you describe how your system is connected, wireless hub (make & model) how's it wired ND5 to NAS - or is it wireless.
Have you tried pressing the Input button to find the NAS ??? Whatever it sounds as though something is confused & I am tempted to try a complete system reboot. Your wireless hub manages IP address allocation so be sure everything is set to DHCP (thats the Naim default so if you haven't changed that you're good to go. Shut down everything that is connected or associated with your network – router, network player, NAS, switch, control device (iPad/Pod, Android) etc... Leave the router off for 5 mins.
Restart the system in the following order
1. Wireless router - let it fully complete its start process.
2. (if fitted) LAN switch
3. NAS - let it complete its start process
4. ND5 …. the ND5 should find its network automatically but help with the front panel Input button is help if needed.
5. iPad – in some cases of network discovery problems it might be beneficial to delete & re-install the app to activate the room find feature.
Keep us posted on how you get on
Don't forget its helpful & nice to see your details in your profile

Thanks for the quick reply Mike - I'll add more detail to my profile as you suggest.
I have my NAS (Synology DS216+II) connected to a router (Apple Time Capsule) in my office. The router is connected to an ethernet port in the wall. I have the ND5 (and a Roku) in another room, connected to an ethernet port, via a switch. I set it up this week and it's been OK, until today.
I tried pressing the input button, but it's not finding the NAS. So it appears the app isn't the issue, but rather an overall loss of connection with the NAS. Would you still suggest the complete reboot?

Would you still suggest the complete reboot? ............... YES something has lost a link, not too clear what, but suspect the Apple thingy might be associated ( I was gonna say 'connected', but maybe not the best word choice)

Yes - re-start all as Mike prescribed.
Looks like an issue with IP address setting and the components need to re-fresh.
By the way - create the playlists you need on the server not in the app.

There is something wrong with the network components connection sequence.... unless I misunderstood the post.
Yes it's not entirely clear how things are connected.
First, what is the Time Capsule connected to? "An ethernet port in the wall" is not a complete answer. The Time Capsule should be connected to the home router/modem supplied by the internet service provider. Is it? We can then go from there.

Sorry yes, the Time Capsule is connected to the router supplied by the ISP. Not sure if this is relevant - based on how this has gone so far, I'm guessing not - but I was adding music to the NAS (via iTunes) and when the UPnP connection was lost.

I'd avoid iTunes entirely. If you're storing your music on a nas for use with a Naim player and the Naim app, there is nothing you need iTunes for. The way iTunes handles music files in almost every way is wrong for what you want. It's not the cause of any network issues, but you can easily end up with files that the server and/or player don't like.
Do you have DHCP turned off on the Time Capsule? You need to be careful not to set up 2 networks with what you're doing. I recommend letting the ISP's router do DHCP, and have it off on the Time Capsule.
Do you have wifi turned off on the isp's router or the Time Capsule? You also don't want 2 wifi networks. I recommend turning wifi off on the ISP's router and using wifi from the Apple product.
(I have a very similar network and set it up as I recommended above.)

Just come back to this thread, sorry but pints of Old Hooky on a friday night is more important. All that Bart posted is good, junk iTunes links, sort out DHCP - you only need one chef in a kitchen. What ISP are you using & what hub ???
