NACA5 again!

A quick question or two!

Are both conductors on NACA5 the same?

If so, why does the ridged side have to go to the positive terminals?

Many thanks.

Yes. Just to identify the positive. So you know which is the positive conductor at each end of a long run of cable. The conductors are not colour coded.

So you could use the ridged side for the negative if it was the same at both ends and the direction was correct?

Yep

Hi,

Just wanted to add that I just upgraded to NACA5 from some cheap-ish Tara Labs Omni cables - and boy what an improvement! Much lower noise floor, deeper bass and less fatiguing treble.

Used the rigged conductor for the positive side and arrows pointing from amp to speaker.

I think NAC-A5 is great stuff, and is one of the longest lasting components in my system.

Eighteen months ago a friend bought over a pair of Tannoys for me to listen to. When I told him I was using NAC he bought a couple of runs of speaker cable. We connected up the Tannoys and his cables stayed unconnected. Used with Linn, Naim, Living Voice and Focal speakers ....and still going strong.
