Phono stage pops

Posted by: fourthsonoferic on 24 March 2017

I've just bought a nac 72 to go with my nap 140. It's never had any phono boards in it and the line boards have been removed. When I transferred my na322/4 boards into it and selected phono it makes popping noises through the speakers. Anybody got any ideas what the problem is? CD works fine through the Tuner stage btw. Thanks in advance.

Worth checking there are no links already hardwired just in front of the pins that connect to the phono cards on the main board  ?

Can you post a pic of the internals ?

James

A picture is worth a thousand words

The links are under the grey wires - they should be snipped as in this picture.

Hi James, Just a quick question, I'm presuming that picture is your NAC72, if so, what are those boards? They don't look like Naim boards.

Regards,

Keith.

Hi Keith - It's just a picture i found on the web to show where the links were

Cheers

James

Edit - looks like the pic has been removed so they must have been non naim boards (i was looking for something to illustrate the link positions so didn't take too much notice of the boards) . Anyway it remained there long enough for you to get your 72 working.
