300DR and Super Lumina DIN-DIN now upgraded and time for a little feedback

Though I would post some feedback on the 300DR and Super Lumina upgrade that occurred since Jan. Don't know if it's the 300DR kit that was added in Jan. that is only now coming on song or the SL I/C that was added 3 weeks ago but it is staggering the improvement this has done to my system.

Now a massive soundstage, more detail and less harshness - especially on vocals and searing electric guitar solos on less than perfect recordings. It's been said on here before about the SL cable and I get it now, it makes all the music much easier to follow whilst still pumping out the PRaR that naim is famous for. For me though it is the massive dynamic range my system now has (though the 300DR may be having an effect here). For example very soft to very loud is almost startlingly in the way the dynamic range moves from soft / loud, the way all tracks now fade out to silence is most impressive as well, a dark silent fade out is what it seems to me anyway.

I have had my 252/300 for a very, very long time and it is great that Naim has had these superb upgrades available. As I was honestly starting to "zone out" when listening for some reason or another, parhaps too familiar with what I have had for far too long ?

...For me though it is the massive dynamic range my system now has...

This is what the SL cables did over some others I tried. The absolute overall dynamic envelope, as well as the internal dynamic structures of quieter instruments was naturally portrayed in a 'matter of fact' way that just presented the music. Other cables did sound 'impressive' but seemed to immediately lose the dynamic range portrayal capability of the SL cables. Drums that when hit sound like an actual drum in your room, rather than an 'intellectual drum' where you notice it but don't feel why it was actually included in the music to directly communicate to you.

...and lots more.

The DR Amp upgrade meshes into this capability of the SL cables and puts real flesh there compared to the non-DR versions. What I really like about the DR Power Amps is their absolute taming of the Bass and beautiful vocal range rendering of very fine detail inflection and timing - really takes you into the Artist's present moment of performance and really engages attention.

It will get better, as full run-in takes about 6 to 9 months. Enjoy!

Are you able to describe where you are using the SL Din-Din? I thought the DIN cable in the 252/300 set-up only carries power or are you using it to connect a source to the 252? Thanks...

Mine is from nDAC to 252. I made the mistake of "borrowing " the cable from me dealer. He never got it back. I'll be going for the SL speaker cable next.........., well not for a while anyway, need to save up a bit more for that.

Darke Bear - on reflecting again, another change that impresses me is the vocals are pulled back ever so slightly as to not dominate a song. Now a complex mix of instruments and vocals,  the vocals are more even in the mix and are not so obvious in a song as to dominate the music.  Love the way this now portrays all of my music.
