Vandersteen 2Wq sub and SN2

Posted by: jdawg on 28 March 2017

Connected to my SN2 are my Vandersteen 2CE Signatures.  Now I have purchased a Vandy 2Wq sub, it came with the WX-2 crossovers.  I have posed this question to the Vandersteen site, but not sure how to properly wire/connect these items.  Any help would be appreciated,  thanks!

Hi Jdawg,

you may have painted yourself into a corner here. According to the Vandersteen website, the crossover is meant to be inserted right before the power amp. For your SN2 this would be between the pre- and power in/outputs that are connected by the double DIN plug. As they (the in- and output) not only carry the left and right channel signal but also the power for the internal pre amp, you would need some very special cables to get this going, with a pretty good chance to ruin the sound or, even worse harm your SN. Any chance to change the 2Wq to a V2W? That model has line level inputs and your SN has dedicated subwoofer line level outputs.

You would need to add something like a Hicap to make it even a little bit viable.  However, I wouldn't be sticking any non-Naim electronics between a Naim pre/psu and power amp. Not a good option and I'm a little surprised if your Naim dealer has sanctioned this.   As Mulberry advises above, I'd look to swap your model for one with dedicated line level inputs.
