Not sure who this legend is. What music was he involved with?

Hmmm, seems it's fake news. Bit of a spoof by all accounts. Must be how prog rock fans get their kicks nowadays.

He fronted legendry Prog group Thotch along with guitarist Pat Quid and Pianist Tony Pebble, but quit the band during the height of their success to pursue a solo career. Pern and Thotch were a major influence on bands like Genesis & Peter Gabriel, Pern went on to  invent world music and was the first to ever use plasticene in a music video. Latterly his career went into decline when he tried to get in to acting with an ill advised role in Dr Who.
During his career he was always a generous supporter of various charities and released the charity single "succulent Chinese meal) and the memorable compilation of Christmas songs with all proceeds going to support Bi-Polar Bears.
Pern recorded a rock opera based on the book The Day Of The Triffids which remained in the vaults until deciding to attempt to perform it on the peak of Mount Killimanjaro an accompanying single Triffid Crackdown was released to coincide. That was the highpoint for me in an increasingly chequered career and although personally I lost interest in Brian Pern thereafter, as he drifted more in to a parody of his former self and reliant on tired cliche but his contribution to music can not be underestimated and I for one will sadly miss him.
