SuperLumina Speaker Cable in an Active System
Posted by: sunbeamgls on 02 April 2017
Is there a tried and tested best way to run multiple SL speaker cables to maximise SQ and musicality please?
If you mean multiple-runs of SL Speaker cable in an Active system, then I found that they like to run near each other but not touching and certainly not either bound together into a trunk or very widely spaced in separate loops. I played with my set of 7m runs on the carpet and found what sounded best and what was not so good. I run mine about 2" apart from each other and since I have a suspended floor and cellar I run these under the floor trough a series of loose-hanging cable-ties that they rest inside - the ties are not done-up tight and set into open large loops that in turn hang under the floor.
I found this sounded better than laying on my carpet and looks neater. I also found the SL speaker leads prefer to sit on a hard surface where they cannot be suspended, rather than on a carpet - clearer bass and timing. None of this is a huge deal but if you have the option these are things to try.
Essentially - all the SL cables prefer to be free-hanging between the end sockets for best performance. The speaker cables have to break this rule, but the more they can run as separate free-standing cables the better they seem to sound.

Thanks Darke Bear, that's exactly what I was looking for. Unfortunately I have concrete floors and no hard surfaces. Should be able to run them 2cms apart though. Do your cables come up through the floorboards in discrete holes 2cms apart or do they converge to get through the boards?
Thanks
Converging and touching is ok in places, just keep it to a minimum if you can.
Essentially just try to keep from forming big loops apart or tightly bunching together is what I found worked best. It was easy for my to run them slightly apart for 6m of the 7m length and then bunch a bit for the floor holes and to the speakers and Amps.

Thanks DB
Whilst I do not have an active system nor any SL this is the type of informative thread and postings that makes this Forum good sometimes.
