Upcoming gigs or tours

I saw Alejandro Escovedo last night and he was excellent - highly recommended. I would have posted this in the "Last concert I saw thread" but I have been thinking that maybe a more useful thread would be one which alerts other forum members to upcoming events and thus gives them the chance to go and hear for themselves.

I kind of tried this recently by starting a Bill Kirchen tour thread which led several forum members to catch his shows. It seems to me there must be scope for more of this, especially with lesser known artists.

To start it off, Alejandro Escovedo is playing the UK for the rest of this week - he said he was on the Andrew Marr show yesterday if you want to check him out with his current band. Next week I'm going to see The Muffin Men with Denny Wally (played on Joe's Garage, Bongo Fury, and Bat Chain Puller) who play Zappa and some Beefheart music. I've seen them before (with the late Jimmy Carl Black) and they are truly excellent - not slavish copyists but true to the spirit of the music.  They are touring through April.

I guess posting links to tour dates would break Forum rules but Googling the band's name will always bring up dates and venues.

Anyone else think it's a good idea to have such a thread? There was a  "Next concert" thread but that seems to be closed and the last post was 2013.

So far I have, Iron Maiden, Stevie Nicks and Tom Petty, Guns N Roses, Gary Numan, and Fish (yet again).  I've managed to dodge Stormzy and left that one to my wife and son

Rather looking forward to the Coachella music festival next week, too many artists to mention! And Steely Dan while we are in Las Vegas.

Rest of the year includes The Unthanks, Kraftwerk, Coldplay and Human League (that's a day at the races though ).

Hi Jeff, I hope you are keeping well. I've been a fan of Anais Mitchell for quite some time now but still not seen her live. Enjoy the gig!

Hi Mark, doing well, thank you.  Hoping you are well also. I learned of Anais on the forum, so I expect you, Ewen and probably Voltaire had a lot to do with that.  I am really looking forward to this show, as I rarely see her touring.  Take care, best regards,  Jeff A

Mrs Plane suddenly produced a booking form today for Al Stewart at York Barbican next month. We missed him last time so looking forward to it this.

Following up from my OP, we saw the Muffin Men with Denny Walley last night - they were excellent. 2 hour long sets of the best Zappa/Beefheart music you'll hear live, in a small venue and all for a tenner.

Still some dates left, don't miss them if you like this kind of music.

A busy but expensive summer for us. Dan Patlansky and Maximo Park next month and then in July it is a ripper - Elbow followed by Adele the next evening and then Tom Petty & Stevie Nicks a week later and another week to Rodrigo y Gabriela.

Father John Misty - Manchester Apollo, 5th November. After seeing him at Coachella the other week rather excited about this.

Thanks for the heads up! Have decided to give it a try. Have got Wishbone Ash in Buckley on the Friday and nearly booked them in Salford on Sunday as well - this could be a great weekend!

After the result on Saturday at Twickenham, I think it will be quite a while before I could consider a trip to that place!
