Quadraspire

used it for 10yr's very happy it, i spent my budget on black boxes,

easy to set up and clean, very netural on the music, but keeps those nuts nice and tight

If Fraim is too expensive, the tried and tested alternatives are Quadraspire, Hutter and Isoblue, all of which give good results and sometimes come up second hand if you want to save a bit more cash. The external dimensions of all these differ quite a bit, and with limited space available, I found it useful to check manufacturers websites for dimensions. What Naim boxes do you have?

The standard Quadraspire Q4 is ok, and the bigger SVT is excellent. If you go for either consider the bamboo versions, which sound a lot better. 

..Naim boxes are: 82+PSC, Supercap, 180 - currently unconnected, NPh2+HiCap, CD 3 - rarely used and Linn Lingo 1. 

I have a 52/250 on Fraim and that's very very nice. Just recently, I purchased a 5 level Quadraspire evo rack for my CDS2/72/Hi/140 and it sounds excellent. The CDS2, in particular, seems to like being on the Quadraspire.

I have both a Naim Fraim and Quadraspire and can confidently reccomended the bamboo versions of the Quadraspire. In fact I'd say that the bamboo will even give a Fraim a run for its money with particular bits of kit, sounding very organic and natural. It may not give quite the depth and exstream detail you can get from the Fraim but there's something very comfortable about what it does do. I always think of the Fraim a bit like that high maintenance girlfriend you wished you'd never met.  Very beautiful but really hard work and in need of constant attention! 

I had a lot of QC problems with QS. When the amp box count went from one to four I decided to treat myself to some SV, having used the standard Q4 stuff before. The SV was so badly finished off that the rack couldn't be assembled. Had the dealer round, tried everything. He took it all away and we went Fraim. Should have done it sooner. Had no idea a rack could make such a difference. Compared to the musical improvement afforded by Fraim, the Q4 was just something relatively expensive to stand things on. Although in fairness I never got to hear Naim on SV - because QS couldn't supply one of sufficient quality to actually assemble.

That's strange - my bamboo SVT is absolutely beautifully finished, and better than the Fraim shelves I used to have many years ago. 

2 racks of Q4 here - does the job fine.

Quadraspire Q4 here, which seems to be good enough for this system.  My Naim dealer recommended it...

No doubt FRAIM is both much better and much more expensive.

HH has a better version of Quadraspire, with copper coloured metal bits.  I think it looks stunning too!

We did a Fraim vs. Bamboo SVT at the dealership. More detail from the Fraim, but a lovely musical flow from the SVT. I would also add that LP12 loves the bamboo plus bronze cones. Also, the Quadraspire is better looking (although photos often don't do it justice) and has a much smaller footprint than the Fraim

I have a similiar SVT two stack set up as KRM and can also heartily recommend it. It is also low maintenance as compared to Fraim.  Q4 is good too if your budget can't stretch to SVT.   

Easy to dust, doesn't go out of tune. Ideal if you are a little lazy.

Chaps,  two of the photos above show turntables in the room's corner, not the best place esp. LP12. Seeing as you both have double tables have you tried swapping the deck over. FWIW I now use SVT Bamboo, very pleased and great value. Fit and finish first class, much improved from first samples I believe.

Hi Simon,

Yes, I know corners and turntables are best kept apart, but room layout makes this unavoidable. The corner bass boom can be heard but it's higher up so the deck is below it. The whole thing was put together by the dealer after consulting with Naim.

The other problem is that the burndies trail on the floor because the rack isn't high enough to avoid it, but I don't want the rack to be any taller so I live with the compromise.

Big fan of Quadraspire. I have three SVT racks and recently purchased a turntable shelf in bamboo. All very well finished and assembled like a dream. I needed some advice and found Alister at Quadraspire very helpful undeed.

James , thanks for sorting the picture have used this Quadraspire rack  for a number of years adding the SVT upgrade last year when my new black box system was installed.

John, I made the small rack myself earlier this year the NAS and router were originally installed on the lower level of the rack but with an upgrade from a 250dr to a 300dr plus the Core I need the additional spaces.

As I had some spare uprights I used these along with the solid Oak timber as shown.The timber I found on the well known auction site at the size shown already prefinished just had to drill the holes and give them a treatment of Danish oil very pleased with the end result

Not to sure if the EE router needs the SVT upgrade though ??

I assume the cables won't allow swapping the NDX for the LP12 then?

It's unclear from the photo but I assume the EE router and HDD etc are on a separate distribution block to the Naim or better still a different spur?
