Hello,

1. what improvements brings hicapdr to nac202 with 200dr (i will borrow one from my dealer) napsc didn't felt to do too much in my system.

2. nac 202 + hicap dr vs nac 282,napsc (which one and why)

Had a 202/200 (not DR) and added HCDR to for the 202, more detail and presentation from 202, I then moved to 282 - as you would expect, a lot more detail with 282/HCDR - the napsc for the 202/282 I belive only drives the volume and lights - so best would be 282/HCDR

the 282 is a great pre amp

NAC 282 for sure with 200 DR.

Much bigger soundstage, more spacious, more control...

202 is a very good preamp, but 282 is a better one.

Hicap DR is a great improvement to 202, with regards to lower noise floor, and frequency extremes (high's and bass), it improves 202 from a very good preamp into an even better one, but it won't transform it into 282.

ultimately though source first matters..... I'd rather spend the money on a better source (on XPS DR) and keep the 202 if that is how it works out financially. That is my experience with Naim since 2010, the source holds the key to enjoyment, even in 500 series amplifiers.

I got 202 and 282 in separate rooms, both with Dynaudio speakers I enjoy them both very much, and the differences between them are more due to the source used in the system.

282 paradigm shift over 202.  But remember to pair the 282 with the 250dr you'll need a HC.
