Hifi System in the spirit of public figures

Posted by: Holmes on 10 April 2017

So here's a crazy idea. Give us your hi-fi system based on public figures.  Of course upgrades are allowed when you feel the itch. I'm tempted to say 'non music' figures, but let's not be too dogmatic.

Here's my starter system, obliviously I have nagging doubts about the balance of the system, but I'm going to live with it for a while before deciding how/whether to upgrade.

Jeremy Paxman Record Player,  John Humphries CD Player, both excellent at getting all of the information from the disc. They feed in to an Enzo Ferrari high-power amp, I'm torn between the well-voiced Ian McKellen speaker and the quintessential loud speaker, the Brian Blessed.

Yes, it must be a Muso folded over the edge of a table or so.

Trump speakers. Shouty, lacking engagement. Unusual colouration.

Obama amp. Refined, cerebral replay. Not always involving.

Blair turntable. Ruthless definition but little respect for truthful reproduction. Fatigues with repeat listening.

Boris Johnson CD player. Fast, bouncy, lots of fun but could not live with it.

Corbyn cables. Inky deep redness. Lots of silence. Some think it sounds broken.

Good selection Bruce, appreciate the reasons for choice.

I'm adding a Meghan Trainor sub-woofer, because it's all about that bass,
