Theresa May calls snap election in June

Now this wasn't something I had anticipated, but I have to admit that it might be a smart move on her part.

I suspect that as Brexit hits home, the PM may have realised that her support would be likely to wane, but this move just might give her a couple of extra years to recover.

I thought that was the purpose of the last four Apollo missions, to build a landing strip for them!

The Strats are in as always a different position to the majority of the electorate as we live in Mr Speaker's constituency where the protocol is that Mr Speaker is not challenged by the main parties but the fringe parties always have a pop.  But this time the Lib-Dems have broken rank and are putting up a candidate.  Interesting times!

Might as well be a third world country then.

Only if you don't understand what an "unwritten constitution" is ... lots of it is written down!

So, no charges in 14 of the 15 investigations into election expense irregularities in the 2015 election.  Not because there was no wrongdoing mind you but because there was no evidence of deliberate wrongdoing.  Cheers of joy and celebration ring out across the Tory party.

Anyway to me thats missing the point completely and is a regular bugbear to me.  MPs and Politicians feel that its appropriate that the only follow the letter of the law.  Now I know most of them are lawyers (which probably isn't true) ... but to me it would give much more public confidence if they were seen to follow the spirit of the law / regulations.  We saw it in the expenses scandal before ... many MPs were within the regulations, but were quite frankly taking the **** with what they claimed.  If they can't stick to the spirit, then the regulations need to be much tighter.

On a serious note, does it worry people that May so far has made very few actual (detailed) policy announcements.  Or are you happy to wait for the manifesto to be launched?
