Yes, thanks - just sneaked the 2:33 clip of Rhiannon Giddens from your link. What a beautiful voice - made my day. Will have to seek her out on Spotify, to start.

Thanks, great programme that I would otherwise have missed. Both Rhiannon Giddens' albums are excellent - Tomorrow Is My Turn (2015) and Freedom Highway (2017).  She is superb live with her great voice and varied instrumental skills. She may be playing in UK again at the end of this year.

I listened to all 3 (download from BBC NI meant they were all there already). Excellent interesting programme, I've since listened to a Rhiannon Giddens album on Tidal and loved it.

It wa also wonderful to see Mairead Ni Mhaonaig on the 1st episode, a fantastic fiddler. If you love Irish folk music and the name doesn't ring a bell, she's the singer and violinist from Altan, if that doesn't ring a bell, then I'd recommend a listen to them, for my taste they're the finest traditional Irish band I've heard, great music for over 30 years. Maybe start with The Red Crow album, on which my favourite track is Tommy Bhetty's Waltz.

It's been a good ten years, but I have very fond memories from attending an Altan show at a relatively small venue here in Minneapolis. Great band - lots of interaction with the audience. Mairead's singing and playing were, of course, mesmerizing!

Have several of their albums. Harvest Storm and Local Ground are favorites.
