I have a NAC552/NAP300 setup and recently upgraded the DAC to the Chord Dave, I decided to test the setup by connecting the Dave directly to the NAP300 bypassing the NAC552. I switched the gear off, connected the Chord Dave directly to the NAP300 XLR connectors and tested the setup for a couple of days, everything worked fine, I then reconnected everything the way it was connected originally, started the system up and got sound only on the left channel, the right channel does not produce any sound. I did the same test a few weeks ago, was not happy with the sound and put everything back the way it was, it worked fine.
I did everything I can think off:
- Swapped the speaker cables and the speakers around (left to right, etc.}), I know for sure that the speakers and speaker cables are all OK
- I tested again with the Chord connected straight to the NAP300 via XLR and it works fine, both channels sound fine.
- The Chord Dave is connected to the NAC552 using an RCA-2-DIN cable, I tried with standard RCA jacks, same result, only one channel
- I swapped the SuperLumina DIN-2-XLR cables with the stock ones that shipped with my NAP/NAC and same result.
- I literally took the system apart, removed every connector and every cable, and reconnected everything, started up and same result... Sound only on one channel.
Based on my basic troubleshooting, I can only think that there is something wrong with the right-channel DIN connections on the NAC552, before I start involving my dealer, I wanted to check if perhaps I am missing some silly remote control option, or system configuration which I am not aware off, I looked through the manuals but I could not find anything.
I have the same question on the thread which was comparing the DAC-V1 to the Chord.. at https://forums.naimaudio.com/to...chord-dave-vs-dac-v1

You do have the green banded DIN-XLR on CH1 (Left) and the red banded DIN-XLR on CH2 (Right), don't you?
Get this the wrong way round and you could just have one channel working...

I have had similar problems before on my 552/500 set up and was advised to try depressing the pins in the burndy cables slightly using a lead pencil, just in case they had stuck in place. This solved the problem for me, might be worth trying this first

Un-hooked the burndy cable between the NAC and 552PS. had a look at the pins, they all seem ok... plugged it back in, still only 1 channel... Pretty frustrating considering this is a top-of-the-line NAC. The odd thing here is that when I never touched the connectors at the NAC552 side when I tested the Chord, I just removed the XLR cable end sitting at the NAP300, and turned my NAC off totally... For some reason one the channels on the NAC decided to rebel...
As these things happen, it is right before a 2 day holiday when I was hoping for some quality time with some music playback...

I know is a pain in the a**, but maybe have another go at a total strip down and rebuild every piece in a slow methodical way and hope that it corrects itself. The other thing if doing this, is again when removing the burndy lads, is to twist the locking ring and as pulling out the knead, to re insert and pull out the lead several times just to help clean the pins.
would love to hear the solution once you have cracked it.
keep the faith and work on the basis it's something simple and not a serious issue

I just disconnected everything and literally started putting it back together from the wall socket all the way back to the full system... I am not getting any sound on my right channel unless I bypass the NAC altogether and have the Chord Dave drive the NAP... It must be something in the NAC552, 552PS, Burndy or the DIN connections...... Brand new NAC, would have thought these things are a bit more robust at the price tag they command... I don't know what else to do in order to better troubleshoot... I can't get my hands on a spare burndy cable, that is the last thing I haven't tried.
