Problem solved. Don't neglect your connections.

Yesterday, an intermittent scratchy/static/rumble sound started to come from my speakers. Just for a second-or two, every few minutes. Interestingly, it occurred even with my SuperNait muted. I tried unplugging and replugging the speakers. No help. I then gently moved the Snaics at the back of my HC. The noise was directly correlated. I unplugged and replugged and the noise is gone.

There is lots of previous advice to periodically perform an unplug and replug of all connections from a SQ perspective. The wisdom of that advice is now apparent to me.

and people wonder why a cable "upgrade" produces an improvement...

Great timing as I was just sitting here thinking it's been 3 years since I touched my hifi and was wondering if maybe I should take it apart and reconnect everything. (Also dust under the components )

4 or 5 months is the most my system gets within a complete strip down and dust / mop under everything. And this is pushing it with a nice crust of dust.   Lucky with a simple set up this takes some 4 hours or so.   Unlucky for some who have got big complex jobs - although most could afford to get the big boss dealer to come round and do this.

But yes -  for Winky - a quick in and out sorts out scratchy rumbles.

Same here. I do a stripdown and rebuild every 6/7 months. I've been using Furutech Nano Liquid for a while now on all the power connections. Power cords, mains blok, spur, fuses etc. and on the speaker cables.

Amazing stuff. I've tried many 'contact enhancers' over the years. Some work better than others but this one clearly works the best. Better imaging, detail and transparancy as well as  improved micro-dynamics, drive and more harmonic richness. Very impressive. And even more important, it keeps working. The improvement doesn't fade quickly as most other treatments do. Re-applying after a few months isn't audible, which is a good thing in this context.

It's rediculously expensive for such a tiny bottle but you only use a very small amount so the small bottle goes a long, long way. Highly recommended.
