The usual route would be a HCdr, but many prefer the hicap with the SN1 and not the 2.

As for the Supercap, it would give you an extremely unbalanced system, I would suggest not a good idea.

You would be far better off going down the 250/282/HC route.

The Hicap is the natural partner for the SN, IMO. When I had a SN1 I tried all combos from Flatcap2X, Hicap2,SC2. The Hicap provided the most balanced improvement. The SC2 was too HiFi for my ears, the FC added little ...

I've never put this to the test but if the SC works a certain kind of magic on the 282 why wouldn't it do the same for the SN2?   That said of course adding any extra boxes to an integrated kind of defeats the object of a one box solution.

The 282 is designed to take more power supply rails (4 rather than 2 of the SN2) which is why it comes into its own with a Supercap (the same number of rails can be provided by two Hi-Caps but with a less than ideal ground scheme). The SN2 can only use 2 of the Supercap power rails so you've got a fair amount of wasted capacity. A Hi-Cap DR would do the job nicely if you want to add another box.

I would only consider a Supercap for a SN2 if you have eyes on a 252 (or 282) eventually. The Hicap (preferably DR) is the natural PS partner for the SN2 but again I would mostly consider a power supply now if you have plans to move to a pre/power combo at a later date

Always think ahead if you have ideas for upgrading. If you can save yourself some steps you will ultimately save yourself some money. And of course if you are happy with what you have then there is an argument to just stick.

Home demos will always help in the decision making process.

What Nigel said. I used a supercap on a 32.5 as a step to a 52. Sounded rather good.
