135's high on fun factor

Posted by: robbo on 08 May 2017

My 500 is off at naim being tweaked, and my old 135's slotted into the system for the last few weeks. I was luke warm to the prospect of the 135's, especially as these were recapped over 10 years ago. But boy oh boy, these amps really are fun to listen to! Maybe not the last word in finesse & transparency, but lots of listening and smiling this last few weeks. I'm now dreading that the 500 turns up and that fun factor goes away... surely surely surely it will blow the socks of these old battered green boxes?? :-)

Loved my ES14s - black ash on open framed stands driven by Exposure amps and fronted by my first LP12. I moved to ES25s and thought they were rather good too.

Another fan of 135s here. Mine are teamed with the 52/52PS and they drive a pair of Shahinian Obs. I've had 200, 250 and 300, but the 135s will do for as long as I listen to music. Same is true of the 52. I will never listen to a 500. Very content with what I have.

just been listening to the Beatles 50th Sgt Pepper. Supereeeerb on vinyl.
