Chord Sarum T

Anyone heard any of the latest versions of the Sarum cables? Upgrading all my cables except speaker cables to Sarum Super Aray wasn't particularly sexy or cheap but the results were superb.
analogmusic posted:The thing about cables ...
As Touraj of Vertere says (please check his interview on vertere website) : "after the source, there is nothing (amp, preamp, etc) there that can improve on the signal". The only thing that can happen, is interference, modification, changing the signal, effectively ruining the signal.
According to Touraj.
"And cables do that the most" (ruining the signal)
Also had a email from Naim that said the same thing.
The better amps from Naim are better (552 better than 282 for example), because they do less damage to the signal. (so 552 does less harm to the signal after the source than a 282)
So who makes the most less ruining cable. Depends on who you ask since it cannot be messured. Naim's answer would have been more convincing before Sl cables were released.

One Article, that really opened my eyes, Why do we need expensive Cables!
In short, technology has advanced at rate, such that reference Cables 10 years ago, can't compete with todays reference Cables!
Hence, those technologies, have trickled down to Chords, Nordest, Kimber, etc....
Excuse my spelling, but you get the point!
Point and case, Maybe Naim's Hi Line, might be bettered by Chords's, Shaw, Epic, or Signiture, not to mention Chords ST/Music!!!!

In a conversation with my late wife, I estimated the number of hours I'd listened to music on my hifi since 1986, and roughly worked out the cost of the system, previous elements, and the CDs and records. It works out at a bit over £1/hour of listening, which I have to say seems like a very good value hobby.

Several expensive mains cables are not needed as you could use standard shielded or the standard kettle cables after the mains block.
It's a cheaper alternative and problery no difference in SQ ........?
If that were so then why place it between the wall socket and the mains distribution block? Why not the last 1.2m before the mains socket? Whilst I accept that mains leads do seem to have an effect on audio performance, I remain rather sceptical as to why the last metre or so should make any difference when the rest of the mains is wired with standard twin and earth cable.
The audio impact of changing interconnect or speaker cable is (to my ears, at least) more obviously beneficial. That having been said, I would be interested if Chord would consider making a cable to fit between Radikal and Urika.
There are many who reported a huge improvement with power cords but my experience with various cords costing up to £350 does not suggest this to be the case. They all sound almost the same to my ears. Either the differences are minute to the point of negligible or my ears couldn't pick up the differences. Having said that, I could hear a difference but it's a relatively small difference when compared to interconnect and speaker cables.
I share the same experience on the larger audio impact with interconnects and speaker cables, especially the ones that connect the preamp, power supply and power amp together.

I have tried the chord power cable £200.00 and did not make much difference but the serum t at £2000.00 did make a big difference in SQ.
When I tried cheaper options for speaker and interconnects I did not experience large differences, however chord sarun t did but it is much more money but the extra was worth the difference in my system.
I doubt your ears fail you, try the chord sarum t power cable with a mains block from a dealer, be prepared for the difference !
This weekend I found that I was getting interference from the network as well ( I played melco direct into dave via usb controlled by melco not an app no ethernet connection ). More controlled bass and better treble. When connected to the network via ethernet SQ deterated.

Thanks for the information. So the power cord will make a big difference, only if it's the £2000 Sarum T. I am sure many will be able to justify the price of these cables though it's just too much money for me. I think I have overspent on the interconnects. The full loom Chord Signature Tuned Aray (total 3 cables) costs less than the Sarum T power cord.
The full loom Chord STA brought a rather massive improvement to my system and I am delighted with the change.
I did have a Chord Power Chord, the cheapest mains cable from Chord I think, and some mid-range cords from Wireworld and Virtual Dynamics.

I found the Sarum T a big leap in SQ quality from signature, I did try the signature but when I tried the Sarum T I could not go back ( yes a lot of money ) but every system is different trust your ears. In my opinion with demos of interconnects, and owning a Chord Music USB I found the Sarum T was almost as good as the Chord Music but a lot cheaper, say 80 % ( ish ) SQ of the Chord Music range, ( some people may say otherwise...? )
I can only say what happened in my system and pass on my findings for me Sarum T was the price point - SQ quality was the best value although I did purchase a Chord Music USB.
A little of topic and to stop electric noise treat the router, switch and nas with a power conditioner - cable etc . I plug all equipment though a Torus Power AVR2 16, the improvement was night and day. Noise floor dropped.
There seem to be a lot of Sarum cables second hand ( from dealers ) as the new Sarum T has been launched, if the private second hand market drops even further it may be possible that Sarum could be more affordable for the price point vs SQ.
There is certainly a debate on cost vs SQ issue and always will be, I suspect the cable industry does have a higher profit margin than hifi equipment.

May I ask what's your system like? What Naim amps are you currently using and is the Sarum T in your system a full loom.
Thanks.
I have Sarum T loom with the excepton of USB which is Chord Music Melco to Dave.
Melco n1hz to Dave (usb) to Bryston bp26 (xlr) to 2x Bryston 7B3 ( xlr) to PMC MB2se (sarum t speaker cable ) new sarum t links on ordet yet to be put in.
I do not have a Naim system but post as a Sarum T thread, hope that was OK.

Nice system. It's fine to post here even though users do not own any Naim equipment. I used to show interest in the Bryston BP26 and 4B-SST when I owned some PMC speakers. Before I knew it the PMC speakers were sold so I did not have a chance to go into Bryston. That's some serious speakers you got there in the MB2SE.

In the (not so distant) past it was quite common for non-Naim users to post - after all it is a Hi-Fi forum where open minds can listen and learn. It's bound to be massively Naim-centric, but it's not the only way.
I can only imagine how those speakers sound (I'm a lowly PB1i owner). If my ship comes in I'm ogling Fact 12s (with Kudos 707 contenders) and upgrading the Sarum TA to T.
Gary and Ryder, thank you for kind words.
I just got into the hifi recently, yes tried the cheap cables but ended up with the Sarum T.
I forgot to budget for cables ! I pushed the boat out for the equipment and hence did not want to compromise the cables so tried the Sarum T and was hooked.
On reflection I think my system / house mains was suffering form a high amount of electrical interference and or RF etc. The Chord Sarum T must of helped with this. Now I have all the system plugged (router as well to control the melco on separate network) into the Torus power supply I should take out the Sarum T and put on the cheap loom Van Damme Studio Grade approx £300.00 just to test and see if I needed the Sarum T.
Should I do the test .......?
Probably late to the party but with lots of experience with Chords offers.
If you chose SL, Vertere or Chord you will find the sound to be fantastic, no matter of brand, vut taste differs a bit.
Chord Music is something different though and have now lived with a "full loom" (except Power Cables), I really see this as THE endpoint, cable wise but probably in total also.
Upgrading today would be quite pervert. I'm over and out, just enjoying the music/Music...

well everyone thinks they got to nirvana in this Naim game until they hear something better.
In your case Jonas, you absolutely need to hear the Chord Dave--- might change your perception you have at the moment.
But you probably won't bother and will say no, thank you, as you feel Chord Music does everything you need ?
Maybe Gary Shaw can share his experience with Chord Dave?
Well Jonas, think your missing a trick without the Music Power Chord in addition to the Chord Dave.
But pleased your enjoying the Music all the best
Clive101 posted:Well Jonas, think your missing a trick without the Music Power Chord ,,,,,,,,
The Sarum T power cable is no slouch
Well to be honest, I'm probably not done yet , Chord Dave has never crossed my mind but why not? Will arrange a home demo. Is it to be used with NDS or instead of?
I do use Chord Sarum Power Chords, wasn't aware that there was a Music version yet.
Im also quite heavy into Sonority shelves but that's for another post.
Have fun
//Jonas
Hi Jonas, you will be quite impressed with the Chord Dave. I certainly am every time I listen to it at home and feel lucky that such a fine digital source is available for enjoyment, and also to watch movies.
Dave really should be used Instead of NDS, although for Demo purposes, it can be used with NDS.
By the way the Sarum interconnects don't seem to make that much difference with Chord Dave, which has this ability to sound musical and fast, regardless of the interconnect.
Just checked on the prices of Chord's speaker cables. A 4m pair of Sarum T speaker cable would cost £14,400 and the Music is almost double that. The prices seem to increase exponentially from the Chord Epic onwards (a mere £50/m). The Signature Reference is £675/m while the Sarum T is £1,800/m.
The Sarum T is undeniably tempting but too rich for my blood..

Eh? 5 metres stereo pair is £6,000. Still not spare change but where did you get £14,400 from?
Hi Gary, you're using a Dave, what cable are you using with that?

£1,800 x 8 for a 4 metre stereo pair = £14,400
Sounds a lot. I wonder if they are priced £ per pair per metre?
Peter
The prices are listed on Chord's website. I am quite sure the Epic is £50/m (as I own a pair) and for that reason I believe the prices are all per metre instead of per pair.
If the price of the Sarum T looks high, the Music will be more shocking. I suppose the speaker cables at this level (Sarum T and higher) are made for the 500 series or Statement gear.
