What music would you want to be played at your funeral?

Since my near death experience last August, I've pondered a few times on the music I want to be played at my funeral. I chose the music for my Dad's but I'd rather choose my own. Perhaps nobody has thought of this, but if so, it would be interesting to read your choices.
Billy Bragg's recording of Blake's Jerusalem
Joy Division's Atmosphere
The Smiths' There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
A recording of The Folks Who Live on The Hill
Something by Bach, possibly one of the violin sonatas
The last two are a work in progress.
Entrance Tchaikovsky 1st Symphony 2nd movement
Reflection Natacha Atlas - Adam's Lullaby
And as they stoke up the fire, it just has to be...................... Always Look on the Bright Side of Life!
John Cage's 4' 33" (I am not having any form of funeral).
As my coffin goes behind the curtains I would like 'It's getting hot in here' by Nellie.
Enter to Muss Es Sein from Beethoven String Quarter No. 16
I'm tempted by Tomorrow I'm Smoke from Lou Reed's Magic and Loss
Alternatively a bit of Tabula Rasa by Arvo Part
And go through the curtains to Meet on the Ledge by Fairport Convention
"Maggot Death" by Throbbing Gristle.
Road to Hell- Chris Rea.
Highway to Hell - ACDC
Lyndon
Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful Word.
There won't be a dry eye in the house!
the sound of fire...
LZ's version of In My Time Of Dying. Full blast!
''In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida'' by Iron Butterfly
Grateful Dead!
Or maybe Willie: "Roll me up and smoke me when I die."
What music would you want to be played at your funeral?
I'd be in no position to care. My life lived and resultant memories would serve as my final statement. Posthumously cue the boombox as an attempt to jerk some tears or grab some smiles? Kind of cheesy, melodramatic.
I do have a music related epitaph that says it all for me. A quote from George Harrison's song "Run Of The Mill" ....
... only you'll arrive at your own made end with no one but yourself to be offended ....
Slap that on my urn and use my ashes to fertilize the garden.
This thread reminded me of The Bill Chill - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kiw_3olyJ2c
and below after the music is over - posted by Jan-Erik Nordoen on the Padded Cell section under Any good Hi Fi cartoons?
Death In June/Les joyaux De la Princesse - Ostenmarsch
The Robots. Kraftwerk.
Then emerge from the flames and frighten everyone....
All that Jazz Soundtrack - bye bye love
Funeral music for Queen Elizabeth King Ardbeg10y by Henry Purcell. 2 of my kids play copper instruments already, other 2 must as well to make this wish come true.
Besides this, all latin 'Liturgia Defunctorum'.
+ thanks for raising this topic HH. Being organist I have much funerals where I need to play the (starting to be disgusting) evergreens.
'Awaken' by Yes. LOUD. You never know, it might do the trick.
Humble Pie - "I Don't Need No Doctor"
I can't think of anything much better than "At my Funeral" by the Crash Test Dummies ...
Good thread this one.
I think the appropriate tracks depend on how one dies and the means of disposal of the body.
So for Malaria how about Fever (Little Willie John version) or There Stands the Glass (Van Morrison version) for alcoholics and for cremation maybe Comeon Baby Light my Fire by the Doors.
Ray
Comfortably Numb and Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life will do for me.
Thought provoking & yes the jokey side has to be included. TBH I haven't really thought about it, but the subject did cross my mind recently after the funeral of my cousin. She was fit as a fiddle, county class badminton player including into seniors, she biked everywhere, never smoked anything ever, then diagnosed with lung cancer & was gone in a few months. She planned her own funeral & included some really tasteful mood provoking classics, jazz & popular music, then for the ceremony departure music she played Abba's 'Dancing Queen' .....its never been the same since each time I hear it.
