252/ NDS Remote Connection

I'm struggling to get the remote between my 252 and NDS working.  I have scoured the forum for advice and read the Naim manuals, but I still cannot get my iPad to control either volume or pre-input on the amp.  I can select volume on (and appropriate inputs icons on) via the Naim app, and can see the volume and input controls, but none of it works.  The lead goes from the 3.5mm NDS remote 1 output (or remote 2, I've tried both!) to a DIN input on the pre. Clearly some nuggetry on my part, but has anyone here solved this problem?

cable goes from NDS remote output 1 to RC5 imput on my NAC252DR.

Hi, had the same problem last year when my dealer installed my new 252 and it was down to the lead not being compatible ?

He changed the lead from what looked like a far higher quality lead to what looks like a cheap thin lead and all works as it should.

Lead should go from the RC5 out on the NDS or in my case NDX to the RC5 in on the 252.

Trust you get it sorted as in is a joy to use when set up this way.

Sorry, my mistake, that's the connection I've made ie phono plug to 3.5mm plug.

Yes it's 3.5mm mini jack from NDS remote out 1 or 2 to RCA RC5 input on the 252.

You can then set up system automation in the NDS settings menu to control the 252 preamp using the spanner button on the NDS remote control.

I know just how confusing all the instructions are - that's why I'm asking here!  As suggested by PCD I've ordered a cheap lead from the 'bay to replace my rather nice one.  Hopefully that will do the trick.  Thank you for the advice so far.

Not a very technical answer, but I had this problem with my 282/NDX (I think i.e. the ipad would change albums etc but not work with the volume/mute/input controls). Went round in circles with the instructions and ideas on the forum (including 2 different 3.5mm to RCA cables) and eventually dismantled the whole system (to go to the dealer, where everything worked perfectly!). Then rebuilt it all again and found it all worked properly. I can't think of anything I changed other than possibly using remote out 2 not 1, but the problem went away for quite a while, then recurred - same solution! Might be worth a try anyway - always good to remake all the system connections anyway.  Best of luck.

In my case, after 3 years working perfectly, suddenly, my lead could not pass a continuity test.  Surprising, as it had never been abused that I knew of.

Buyer Beware: I tried a cheap mini to RCA mono-cable and it degraded the sound of my NDS/552 significantly.  Best to go with a high quality shielded cable for this purpose.
