Forum - Topic text vanishing when mouse moved !

Posted by: beefster on 10 August 2011

Anybody else getting this problem. Click on a post to read, then move mouse , or try and click on a link, text vanishes. Moving mouse around can get it back, sometimes ? Odd.  Only happening on this forum.

Ideas ?

Happening to me too, has done since the "upgrade" a little while ago. I keep my mouse outside of the main body of text (grey area) to stop it from happening, but that won't help if you want to click on a link.

Same here.

It only happens with certain browsers.

It is a new 'feature' to keep our brains fast and agile

It used to be called poor design, but now it is acceptable.

Please let me know what operating system you are using and which browser (and version).  I'll then pass on the info to Hoop La. Thanks.

I'm not having a go, personally, at the forum, but just passing a view on the release testing on what is presently mediating it.

Unfortunately I can't always upgrade my browser. My personal one at home - yes, but sometimes I like to log-in on my breaks at work, and they have a corporate policy of using older versions of IE, like version 7 I'm writing this on.

It is just a shame to limit the window of people who can access your site without unneccessary hassle and irritation.

Cheers,

Mark.

PS As advised before , I can keep text if I skirt around side and top of scree outwith grey area. Cant click on any links though.

It happens to me at home - as I reported in the other thread about Hoopla.

At home I am using a Thinkpad with Windows XP Professional and IE8.

The problem only started last night when I changed my router, not my ISP or anything else, just the router from a D-Link to a Thompson.

At work I do not have any "mouse" problems. We are also using Windows XP Professional and IE8

So I don't think the problem solely due to the choice of browser.

I have also noticed that following the change at home, the rectangle containing the Avatar and member name sits ABOVE (and to the left of) the associated post, whereas before (and at work) the Avatar and member name sits ALONGSIDE (and to the left of) the associated post

Also, at home I don't see the + or " in the bottom right hand corner of any posts, whereas at work I do.

There are probably a host of other little glitches/differences that I haven't yet noticed

Cheers

Don

As an aside I believe that IE7 should be updated to IE8/IE9 (not the latter if using XP) in order to improve security.

Hi, I'm using Windows 7 Professional and IE9, and also getting this missing test problem.

Hi Gerry,

I would love to, but it's on a work computer ; only our IT dpt can install anything.

Thanks anyway

It's somewhat baffling that Hoopla is so inconsistant. I access the Naim Forum on 6 PC's/laptops using XP/Vista & Windows 7 via IE9/Firefox/Chrome & Maxthon, and have never had an issue.

Very strange.
