New NAITs?

Posted by: sunbeamgls on 31 May 2017

Just seen this on Naim's Facebook page from 3 hours ago, referring to the original NAIT amplifiers:

"This spirit is alive and well today in our new range of integrated amplifiers, which use new technologies to enhance the fundamental qualities of pace, rhythm and timing pioneered by their predecessors."

Then there's a link which takes you to the SuperNAIT2 and NAIT XS 2

Any idea what this is about?

Perhaps they put new range instead of present range by mistake ?

Marketing?

Presumably that'd be the same people who wrote in the promo email I received earlier that one of the engineering principles behind the design of the new powerline lite is 'purposeful materiality'.

So it's an engineering principle that it's made of stuff and does something?

My guess to the OP is that it's old copy from when the current range was new. Spose you never know though.

Easily worth a thread of its own.

What don't you understand? The SN2 and the XS2 ARE the new range of integrated amps, compared to the original Nait .

Don't take things so literally.

Brilliant! Right up there with "source agonistic".

Even if you take things literally, the SN2 and XS2 are the new Naits. No problem with the link AFAIC, except that maybe the 5Si ought to be linked as well?

Still looking forward to a re-issue of the Nait 2, given for free by a copy of a hifi magazine.

Clarification:

This is quite jokish, but I think there could be a clear business case: get 10.000 built of them in the Peoples Republic of China for GBP 100 each and give them for free by a yearly subscription of WHF or so. I't probably the cheapest global marketing campaign one can have.

Then launch a Streamer / Dac in a similar casing to cover costs.

What would you call them, CHINAIT? (CHINA InTegrated amp)?

Incidentally they wouldn't be a patch on the originals at $150, as there'd have to be cost savings in the transformer, the capacitors and particularly in the sonic development & testing schedule.  Nice idea however.

Really?  Taking "new" literally?  I don't think that's my problem - its a word with a very clear and well understood meaning.  "Current" or "most recent" would make sense, but they're not new.  Marketing should be more careful with wording - reading "new" then finding out they're not "new" lead to disappointment - which isn't great marketing.

A Google took me to a 2014 Naim product brochure archived on issuu.com, which had the whole paragraph they used on the FB page and the same picture of JV.

Really? I guess in the context of the quote, referencing the original Nait I think it's quite obvious what the marketing department was trying to get across.

I guess your interpretation and mine are at odds of what the term new means with respect to this advertisement!!!!

This really led to disappointment................ Wow!

Or 'Purposeful yet-to-materialise-ality' as used in the Uniti marketing material....
