Muso won't respond to volume change on Bluetooth device

I connect my Sony MP3 player NW-A20S via Bluetooth to the Muso. It plays just fine but I'm sure I used to be able to alter the volume on the Muso using the Sonys volume control, but alas this doesn't happen now. If I press '-' the sound disappears and if I press '+' the sound comes back to whatever level is set on the Muso volume control.
Does anyone have any ideas for a fix. I've switched both units off and on but the volume can't be altered from the Sony player. I've tried the Sony with my Creative Bluetooth speaker and the Sony controls the volume just fine.
