BBC Sports Reporting

It may be my imagination, but it appears to me that the Beeb have almost ceased to report upon the results of those sports they have lost the broadcasting rights to. Today for example we had Rafael Nadal win the French Open and Lewis Hamilton the Canadian Grand Prix. Neither merited a mention on the 10pm news. The same applies to cricket, with no mention at all yesterday of England's win over Australia, or Andy Murray's exit from the French Open on Friday.

I appreciate there may be issues with broadcasting action clips, but to the best of my knowledge there is nothing to prevent the broadcast of still photos whilst reporting on the action/results?

I much prefer the BBC news to all the others, but find these omissions irritating and a little worrying. Am I overreacting?

I was having the same thoughts so I turned to the BBC News channel and both events were covered in the sports report. Perhaps recent political events have squeezed the time available for AOB.

Ironically I was glad there was no mention of the cricket scores on R2 yesterday as I was driving home...

Perhaps, although they managed to find the time for the football and rugby, both of which they have the broadcast rights to? I'm probably being too 'conspiracy theory', but it seemed rather odd that Hamilton didn't merit a mention.

Good result in the cricket. Same with Canadian GP. And England win U20 World Cup. Surely worthy of some mentions?

My point precisely.
