Uniti Core connection

Hi - Am considering a Uniti Core connected to my NAC 272. To control it from an iPad does it need to be connected separately to my network, or can I simply connect it to one of the digital inputs on my 272? Thanks

uniticore to switch and nac 272 to switch, the 272 being the player. Or uniticore to switch and 272 in spdif to the core, the core being the player.  Some found this second option better vs sound quality... If 272 is the player, you must choose 272 on naim app....and uniticore on the app if it is the player.

Keler I think you might have that backwards...the Core will feed the 272 with SPDIF digital out,not the other way around,I think?

There seem to be two threads running here!? Anyway, the short answer is that your Core will still need a network connection for the app and for web metadata retrieval, so there is no need for an SPDIF connection to the streamer unless you find it gives better sound quality than UPnP.

It's not clear where your music is stored at the moment, but assuming it's on a Nas, don't make the assumption that the Core will sound better. Also be aware that the Core is less flexible than a Nas in terms of metadata and management.

Basic connection is via ethernet cable - Core to Wireless Hub (router) to 272 & the iPad control is via wireless.              A possible improvement (depending on wireless hub abilities) (plus it might make a tidier install)   Core to Switch to 272 & a branch from Switch to Wireless Hub.

But per HungryHalbut post a Core is primarily a CD ripper outside that a NAS is a better solution for the reasons HH lists
