No such thing as better with hifi, but some products are preferable.  Price has no direct influence over which products are preferable.  I prefer inexpensive things to be preferable, but if they're not, it gets expensive.

everyone wants to pay less and have more....and sometimes less expensive components can be more musical and enjoyable. The most important thing is to have pleasure in listening, and also the feeling that in our listening room it is as in concert. But this last search costs a lot of money.

I just came from a rock concert, in the street. I realized how different drums can sound in reality. My system is far away from real concert sounding in my room...But no matter, i continue to go to live concerts....

I agree totally this... price has no direct influence over which products are preferable... sure the very cheap end of the market will almost always sound limiting, but above a certain point price seems to matter less.. and it's down to personal preference. Certainly when it comes to digital devices, performance/cost ratios have massively improved in recent years. Hardly surprising, think of the cost and room size of computers in the 1970s costing hundreds of thousands of pounds and now the same if not better performance can be had for a few pounds in the size of a matchbox.

i found a recent review of the dcs bridge by Andrew Everardt on hifi news: the dcs bridge put on the digital output of the nds, gave an improvement in the sound.  The bridge is not a dac but a network bridge....

Hi [@mention:56335183628232089], sorry but this isn't what was done in this article. I'm afraid you may have read to quickly.

In the review, he compares directly the on-boarding streaming of the dCS vs NDS and in his opinion they are a match. He connects the dCS to the digital input of the NDS and compares both streamers going through the internal DAC of the NDS.

Incidentally, I was able to listen to the dCS network bridge vs NAC 272 (w/ XPS DR) for the past 3 days. I was using the digital output of the NAC 272 to compare apples to apples.

I, my wife, two of my audiophile friends all unanimously voted the 272 as better than the dCS but by a small margin.
