Core - Can I select individual files to download?
Posted by: Paulie on 24 June 2017
Example: a USB drive with 120 albums on it. Can I select only 3 of the albums for download? I'm a newbie with this product, and my experience presently is that if you connect an external disc via the USB drive, you can select the disc itself, but not the content. So, in my example, it would pull in EVERYTHING on the disc. No option to select.
Thanks, as always for any help.
I have not stumbled on a way of selectively downloading through the App, would love to be advised otherwise by others?
As would I.
Again, how could you NOT put an option in for that eventuality? A seemingly simple thing, but the lack of being able to select from a group of files adds up to a massive pain in the a**.

you can select the tracks you want on your pc and put them in the download folder to the core. But directly on the app, i think it is not possible to select the tracks to download. But i am not 100% sure for this last thing.

I think Pierre is right.
The other way is to copy them all across and then delete the ones you don't want of course. You can do this without needing to involve a PC.

What about creating an "export" folder in the USB drive with symlinks to those files or albums that have to be transferred to the Core?
It is obviously a workaround, but a very straightforward one. As a bonus, you get a list of those contents of the original collection that you have already transferred.
Using "import" and "export" folders for data transfer is a quite common workflow idiom, in particular when some data-processing (typically renaming, editing) has to be done before incorporating the files into the final target. This is not the case here but using a temporarily export folder does not hurt either.

ah, it is a good thing that it is possible to delete tracks on the core using the app. I didn't know. With the serve it is not possible.
You can delete albums but I don't think you can delete tracks. Sorry to disappoint you!
Admittedly copying 120 albums and then deleting all but 3 would be very tedious using the app!

thanks, i am not really disappointed because i have not the core and hardly think i will go for it. But if i had not the serve, i would be happy with the core , if only all the problems mentioned earlier are fixed.
In the future, later future, we will see: aurender, melco or new products to come. Mqa, roon, all is evolving quite quickly...
