Pink Floyd Ummagumma. Where did that fly come from? Haha

Meddle always did it for me...

Mind you, I once found Songs From The Big Chair a revelation whilst in that particular 'frame of mind'.

I once took a ride on Timothy Leary's plane to accompaniment of Trout Mask Replica. Never again!

I must admit I quite liked doing that kind of "acid test" - as well as Trout Mask I would sometimes put on The Mothers of Invention " We're Only in it for the Money". If you could handle "What's the Ugliest Part of Your Body?" when peaking you were in pretty good shape!

I'm far too young, but I'm told that Tangerine Dream's Phaedra (1974) and Rubicon (1975) were often the discerning stoner's choice for chemically enhanced listening back in the day. I've only enjoyed them in a legal frame of mind, but I can see how it would work.

I had the Peter Gabriel Car album didn't play it much, but in a sunny beach town Saturday put it on and realized its potential as being in a Carnival.  My plants in the back yard were really beautiful and breathing.....

Never again was my mantra after that.

In my tyounger days it was Floyd's DSOTM and Santana Caravanserai

Posted on: 18 August 2017 by Gazza

Still think Caravanserai stands the test of time, as does dark side of the moon

Yes - Close To The Edge plus DSOTM and Meddle...

Agree with DSOTM and Caravanserai and would add The Doors self titled debut album.

I think I remember the Köln Concert and wacky baccy in the seventies but maybe I've imagined it.

Autechre: Amber was it for me for quite some time, also passing the acid test very well.

Anything from Portishead/ Tricky/ Massive Attack as well.

If I remember correctly, my flat-mate went off into another room to cleanse with Mississippi John Hurt, while I donned the headphones for Electric Ladyland - and that I'll never forget for all the right reasons.

Either of these did it for me, headphones were a preference.

My all-time favourites were Terry Riley's Rainbow In Curved Air, Land Of Grey And Pink, Twelve Dreams Of Dr. Sardonicus and (oh my goodness) side two of Amon Duul II's Yeti.

Everything pretty much  Even Katy Perry would be either a genius or a government mass hypnotism conspiracy when you're high enough. Harpsichord and Gregorian Chants used to trance me out. In addition to some of those already mentioned, I think readily of Hendrix, Santana, Zappa, Allman Brothers, Beck, Radiohead, Parliament and of course, the Doobie Brothers. Even early Sabbath is fascinating high - Black Sabbath or Vol 4 maybe?
