Resetting N Serve

Posted by: Consciousmess on 11 July 2017

How can the app N Serve be reset after substantial changes in DOWNLOADS folder?

No doubt others experienced this - deleting several albums put in DOWNLOADS, going back to N Serve and the 'present albums' needed to be updated.

i tried deleting the app then reinstalling but the old albums are still there and it's messy finding music.

Can anyone relate and offer advice?

Rescan the downloads folder, using the desktop client on your computer.

Ok I'll give that a go, thanks.

Yes as HH says.  I don't think there is any way to force this from the n-serve app. Occasionally I found that shutting down the US and then restarting it would sort it out, but the only reliable way is from the Windows Desk Top Client, which personally I find to be a monumentally unfriendly and obscure programme.

A main reason I bought a Core was so that I could forget forever about the Naim Windows DTC.

If you run Asset on a Qnap, it rescans changes automatically within about 30 seconds. Yours for £500.

I understand your comments HH, but I also used to own a HDX (which is basically a US with analogue outputs) and for me it's a great machine. I'm not into the networking/ computer stuff and by using my HDX I didn't need to worry about correct ripping settings, network issues etc.  just ripping your CD collection and enjoying it ... it comes at a price though

If you're a Mac user, do the rescan using N-Serve for Mac, it's very quick and easy. If you don't, changes can sometimes take days or even weeks to show up.
